GvR has commented that he want to get rid of the lambda keyword for Python 3.0.
Getting rid of lambda seems like a worthy goal, but I'd prefer to see it dropped
in favour of a different syntax, rather than completely losing the ability to
have anonymous functions.
Anyway, I'm looking for feedback on a def-based syntax that came up in a recent
c.l.p discussion:...

I've got the case of a table which has unusual FK constraints. I'm
implementing them as triggers against a view. It all works, BUT I don't see
a way to make the triggers executed only on Commit -- i.e., I'd like the
same "deferrable" behavior that true FKs provide. Does anyone know how to
do this?
Thanks,
Ezra E.

Hi,
I am trying to investigate if some of our fairly complex views
couldn't be materialised with MQT's.
Unfortunately the error message returned when the fullselect is
invalid is as
shown at the bottom of this post.
This message does little/nothing to help me(the user) understand what

Hi
First a simple question ...
I have a table "access_log" that has foreign keys "app_id" and
"app_user_id" that reference the "application_type" and "app_user"
tables. When I insert into "access_log", the referential integrity
triggers generate these queries:
SELECT 1 FROM ONLY "public"."application_type" x

Hi,
If during a transaction a number of deferred triggers are fired, what will be
their execution order upon the commit?
Will they be executed in order of firing or alfabetically or something
entirely different? The docs only mention regular triggers being executed
alfabetically.

In order to try to reduce lock contention on my FK's, I need to
convert them to DEFERRABLE. The straightforward way is to drop and
recreate the modified FK. However, on a table with 65M rows, this is
taking quite some time. I'm afraid how long it will take to update
both FK's on my 170M+ row table...
Anyhow, is there some trickier way to make an FK deferrable? Mucking
with the system tables, perhaps?
I see that pg_restore has a...

I want to create an MQT, intialize it manually and then use staging table to
refresh it with new data, but i don' t see a way for not doing full refresh
after creating the staging table.
I tried set integrity immediate unchecked, but refresh table after that
seems to do a full refresh.
Should this work? If so, what would be the right statements for doing this.
Thanks

Hi all --
Compared to the Python I know and love, Ruby isn't quite the same.
However, it has at least one terrific feature: "blocks". Whereas in
Python a
"block" is just several lines of locally-scoped-together code, in Ruby
a
"block" defines a closure (anonymous function). To avoid confusion
let's call
them Ruby block-closures. I see them as just a syntax for defining

I have a problem, I am getting SQL1042N The SQL statement is not
supported. error when I try to create a MQT against a nickname. The
source db is db2 version 9.1 fixpack 4, same as the target db and so
the SQL is definitely supported and both are in windows 2003 server.
Is there a way I could find why this error pops up.
My syntax is like
create mqt1 as
(select col1, col2, ..............., colN from nickname where
<predicate>) data...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
