postgresql.conf for pg_stat_activit y

The variable names in postgresql.conf have changed
in the last several releases. I'm now confused
about what variable(s) to set to show the query
in pg_stat_activit y.

Hints?

You readers in comp.lang.php may use PostgreSQL, so you might find this review useful... ISBN 0-7357-1257-3 "PostgreSQL", Copyright 2003 by Sams Publishing. Authors: Korry Douglas, Susan Douglas. Subtitle: "A comprehensive guide to building, programming, and administering PostgreSQL databases". I am not completely happy with the book. It's a thick book, but much of the bulk is for examples relating to using various languages to

Is there any way to close the connections of other users in PostgreSQL. I wish to run an automatic pg_dump and pg_restore and I guess users must bedisconnected first. For ease of configuration and other reasons, I would like for my single-user GUI app to be able to use postgresql in-process as a library accessing a database created in the users home directory. I think I could possibly get what I want by launching a captive copy of postmaster with appropriate args but it seems conceptually cleaner to not have a seperate process at all. Has anyone tried to do anything like this? I've looked at sqlite...

Hi All! I am wanting to setup/run PostgreSQL on my server (a SuSE Linux 9.2 distro) but I'm not quite sure which way to go. I have a few books on PostgreSQL but they don't seem to match the way SuSE has installed it. The books explain how to install/make/etc. and then how to setup a "cluster". The directory structure differs alot from the SuSE install.

The PHP web app that I'm building uses PostgreSQL. Of course it won't work right off the bat, so my web app is going to have to detect that it has never been configured with a database and have to instruct the sysop on what to do. What are developers in the PHP industry doing with their installers to ensure everything with PostgreSQL is going to work out right? In particular I'm going to want the web app to have a local database (by...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
