I'm setting up some web-based (ASP) reports that query an Access DB. I also
want certain people to be able to access and manipulate the database
directly.
However, if the database is open in Access, I cant access it via ASP:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Could not use ''; file already in use.

Hi all,
I got a serious urgent issue about COM+ component access. The thing is:
I developed a component(called comA) using VB, and another component(called
comB) using VB.NET, both of them are in same COM+ application. The
concurrency setting is Required for them. From asp(or asp.net) page, I call
comA which calls comB. For single user, the application runs perfect. If
there are 5 users access same asp page concurrently, sometimes it's...

I posted this issue a while back (over a year ago?) but thought I would
take another crack at it.
I have one user out of about 250 where my app's custom menu bar does not
work on any of the drop-down menu items. I have four drop-down menus in
the menu bar along with a half dozen or so other top level buttons. The
top-level items all work perfectly, but all of the drop-downs display a
single option labeled "Other".
Something on this...

There seems to be a consensus that Access has a concurrent user limit
of 200 users. I am working on a system that currently stands at
approx. 1 gig and has a small number of users. However, there is a
project on the horizon that I have been asked to implement (within 2
months) where there will potentially be 1200 users accessing the
backend through a Cold Fusion Interface.
Whenever, I have been looking at this many users, I have always...

Hi all,
I've developed a win C# app that is actually database driven using SQL
server 2000. The idea is that only one application will be installed on
a server in a network and the program will be able to run at each client
machine by just double-clicking the application executable through a
network share. The program supports user logins.
What I want to do is find a secure way to control the number of
concurrent *users* using the...

I have what I imagine is a well-known .Net networking problem, but even
though I've Googled for some time I've not yet come across a thread
where this has been fully explained...
There is a fairly common idiom (at least in the Java/UNIX/Win32 worlds)
where a socket connection is established and the program then utilises
two threads: one dedicated to reading from the socket and the other one
concurrently writing to the socket - both using...

It appears that System.Random would provide an acceptable means through
which to generate a unique value used to identify multiple/concurrent
asynchronous tasks.
The usage of the value under consideration here is that it is supplied to
the AsyncOperationManager.CreateOperation(userSuppliedState) method... with
userSuppliedState being, more or less, a taskId.
In this case, the userSuppliedState {really taskId} is of the object type,...

Hi,
I have a winform client which consumes a WCF service. I have a single
service client(proxy) at the winform side, but spread the service calls into
multiple threads so that they can do works concurrently. My confusion is, as
all threads share the same proxy, will one thread block another while calling
a long running service? Is this related to the service concurrent
configuration?
Thanks.

I am having problems allowing concurrent access to a database I have created. I have set up tools-options-advanced default open mode to sharing and with no locks. The database is found on a network drive. Can anybody explain how to resolve my issue.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
