And could you frame this as a question about PostgreSQL, maybehaps?

This is a mailing list for discussion of the PostgreSQL
object/relational database; I can't say that I'm familiar with a
"Basix" system running on _any_ platform, and that is certainly not
something I'd expect people around this list to be much aware of.

The only "Basix" I can see in a quick Google is the following...

Setting aside for the moment the question of why in the Wide, Wide
World of Sports anybody'd *want* to run SCO, you have the wrong mailing
list, my friend. pg***********@p ostgresql.org is about the PostgreSQL
database.

Good luck.

I have a UDP socket that sends out a request on a multicast socket and waits for a response. This client is not listening on a multicast IP but the local IP. All, It was possible before in Pascal, C++, etc. to define our custom data type or redefine the existing type, like in Turbo Pascal we could assume that shortint is int and use all references to shortint like all these variables became int. How can we define our own user data type in C# is we can? Just D.

I have Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. I was just reading up about UTC and leap seconds. Is it true on my system that the Unix time may skip up or down by one second at midnight when there is a leap second? By "Unix time" I mean the integer returned by time() and similar functions. I'm concerned about the "down" case. Some of the...

In most modern distributions of Linux and Unix (at least ones with graphical environments like KDE, Gnome or XFCE), you get to mount your partitions easily from the desktop. In some cases however, it isn't that easy. Note, that all of these commands have to be run in a terminal as root user. To open a terminal (sometimes called a console),...

Given that UNIX, including networking, is almost entirely coded in C, how come so many things are almost impossible in ordinary C? Why isn't there a...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
