Linux Magazine/Postgres Article

Linux Magazine Feb 2004 published an article titled "Postgresql 7.4: The
Database Administrator's Database". It is a 5 page article describing
in detail what and how to use the new postgres features such as
Expression indexes, arrays, data type domains, polymorphic functions,
and full text indexing. This excellent article was written by Josh
Berkus and Joe Conway.

Nice Job! It was nice to see Postgres on the front cover of a magazine.
Brian

Hello there, Are there any out-of-the box handhelds that run Linux/Apache/MYSQL and PHP? Does Redhat, Suse, or Gentoo support any handhelds? I know the Zaurus comes close, but I've heard people have problems running LAMP applications on it. It would be cool to be able to run any LAMP application on sourceforge on a handheld computer.

Normal publishing standards for references to magazine articles call for putting the article title in quotes and the magazine title in italics, thus: See "The Taming of the Foo" (<i>Shakespearian Beats</i>, Vol. 2, No. 7, January, 1984) Would proper use of the cite tage be to use it in place of the i tag, to put the entire thing inside of cite, or neither?

The cmd I was given to backup the db from within xp is: pg_dump.exe -i -h <server> -p <port> -U <user> -F c -v -f <filename> <DB Name> If xp/vwmare is not running and I mount the disc the xp postgresql data is on and do: /bin/su - mike -c "/usr/bin/postmaster -D /mnt/win_d/Program\ Files/PostgreSQL/8.0/data"

I need help to connect DBDesigner4 linux in ODBC to postgres. I'm having a problem connecting to a remote Postgres db using ODBC from my Debian Linux laptop. I've got ODBC set up (UnixODBC). In DBDesigner I'm simply trying to set up the connection using the ODBC datasource, but I keep getting the following error message: "Connection to database failed. Unable to Load libdbxoodbc.so"

Hi All! I am wanting to setup/run PostgreSQL on my server (a SuSE Linux 9.2 distro) but I'm not quite sure which way to go. I have a few books on PostgreSQL but they don't seem to match the way SuSE has installed it. The books explain how to install/make/etc. and then how to setup a "cluster". The directory structure differs alot from the SuSE install.

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
