I need to set a variable to a session variable (if that's what you call it)
like this:
dim ds as dataset = HttpContext.Current.Session("CustDataSet")
But I get an exception if this variable in the current session hasn't been
set yet so I need to test it. I tried:
If HttpContext.Current.Session("CustDataSet") = nothing then
HttpContext.Current.Session("CustDataSet") = GetCustDataSet()

If I have a session ID (string) can I somehow obtain the session object
associated to that ID (it exist of course) ?
I know this sounds wicked but I have a situation in which I have to make a
request from the client (IE) but for security reasons I can not access the
headers of the current request, so I can not make my new request contain the
same session ID cookie. So I was thinking that if I pass the session ID as a
parameter which I...

Currently, I am storing information about the currently logged on user
in Session variables that are stored in SQL. However, I am using
role-based security, so I am storing custom roles in a GenericPrincipal
object that I attached to Context.User. My question is this:
Can I create a new class, ExtendedPrincipal for instance, and simply
inherit System.Security.Principal and store all of the information
currently stored in Session...

In a centralized error logging routine I need to determine whether there is
a "current session" - then if there is I log some information stored in the
current session. I have an HTTP Module that logs all otherwise unhandled
exceptions. Sometimes it logs exceptions that apparently are not related to
any particular Session (perhaps they occur before a new Session is
established).
So, I need a line of code that answers the question - "is...

I'm storing a DataTable in a session object and call a seperate class
with a method in it to work with.
How do I access the session from this class?
I was using HttpContext.Current.Session, but that isn't the same
session (has a different session ID).
Could I pass in the session as a reference and if so, how?

I captured an arraylist into a session value but to display the current values, the page requires a postback or else it displays the
prior version of the value.
how do I force a post back automatically so I can always get the current value stored in the session object ?

After some digging, I discovered HttpContext.Current.Session is null
when trying to access a session variable, username, in my upload.cs
code which is in the App_Code folder.
I just determined that I can't because HttpContext.Current.Session is
null. (HttpContext.Current is fine though)
I think there may be another server side method interfering with my
ability to access the session.

Hello,
I have created ASP.NET project in which I have a file Admin.cs. It contains
static class Admin with some methods and properties. The problem is that in
property get a reference HttpContext.Current.Session is null, although for
instance HttpContext.Current.Application or HttpContext.Current.Request is
not null:

Hello
I am delivering an asp.net 2.0 application to my customer. I need to know,
If I need to check for the condition of HttpContext.Current to be null
in my business logic. I have extensively used Cache and Session objects, and
currently I assume HttpContext.Current object to be existent.
Also, since I do not have this check, some of my unit test cases fail
because there is no HttpContext for them.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
