Hey all, I'm using PostgreSQL 7.3.4. I have a query that isn't using a particular index, and I'm wondering why. The query is: select i.ItemID, d.Extension from ITEM i, SHARING s, DOCUMENT d where i.ItemID = d.ItemID AND s.ItemID = i.DomainID AND s.UserIDOfSharee = 12

I had a fun issue this morning, and now I'm wondering if I violated a rule I didn't know about. Any insight would be much appreciated. All operations involving this particular table may be assumed to have functioned normally before today. bash-2.05a$ cat PG_VERSION 7.3 Last night, we added 'index_t_payment_param' to this table. payment_id is not a unique entry, hence the composite primary key, and I've since

Hi, I have read in this list and elsewhere the problem with indexes and big int. Still, I have an index that is used or not, depending of the parameter value used in the query. I am using PostgreSQL 7.4.3 on Linux RH ES3. Here's the table: test=> \d dmaildatum Table "public.dmaildatum" Column | Type | Modifiers ----------------+-----------------------------+----------- id | bigint ...

I have a database with a btree index on the 'removed' field, which is of type 'date'. However it isn't being used: techdb2=> explain select * from lines where removed > CURRENT_DATE; QUERY PLAN ------------------------------------------------------------ Seq Scan on lines (cost=0.00..243.47 rows=2189 width=324) Filter: (removed > ('now'::text)::date) (2 rows)

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
