Stored procedures from MS Query

Hi!

We're trying to call a set-returning stored procedure
from Excel (MS Query). To do this we type:

select * from getStudents()

(where getStudents() is the stored procedure).
The problem is that MS Query interprets this as if
getStudents was a table, and complains that there is
no table called getStudents(). How do we get around
this?

We would be very grateful for any help!

Create a dummy table and a rule that calls this function instead of actually
selecting the from the table.

Hello, The aspfaq.com seems to really push stored procedures, and I hear the same advice here all the time. So I want to take the advice. Is it possible to create and practically maintain, delete, use, etc.. stored procedures soley from asp (i.e., no GUI or console- like being hosted on Brinkster)? The tutorial on aspfaq.com mentions that stored procedures can be

I have several stored procedures that run fine from my SQL Server database (via the exec command.), though when I call these procedures from my web application, they do not complete. I have other procedures that in fact do run fine through my web application though, so I do not believe its a front-end problem. The procedures only take about 30 seconds to run from the back-end, so I know its not a time out issue as well. Does anyone have...

I was following the thread "Re: Access Treeview - Is it Safe Yet?" with interest and on reading the post describing Lauren Quantrell's SmartTree, I've run into something I don't understand: Stored Procedures. I thought stored pricedures were an Oracle/MS SQL Server thing and don't know how they work with Access Jet. I've looked at some of the help on stored procedures in A2003, but really don't understand what's going on. Can someone...

The purpose for my questions is accessing these technologies from applications. I develop both applications and databases. Working with Microsoft C#.NET and Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Production and 2005 Test Environments. What is the purpose of a view if I can just copy the vode from a view and put it into a stored procedure? Should I be accessing views from stored procedures?

Hi, I am trying to create stored procedures in MySQL. Does anyone have a suggestion on a good IDE to use. I have been working with the MySQL Query Browser but it generates errors very often and is shut down by Windows. When I make changes to my procedure, it doesn't seem to always change what is being executed. Furthermore, sometimes the procedure just disappears from my database. I am starting to think that the stored procedure...

Hi, My experience with linq is that I can develop my web application very fast. On the other hand, I have read that using stored procedures are executing faster. Is it smart to use linq for a heavily used web application, let's say for a social network application? Or is the performance difference between linq and stored procedures to small? And what about the future differences, will linq technology be faster

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
