Resources for Progress conversion...

Anyone on the list have experience with this? I (potentially) could be
hired today to help in an effort to convert from Progress to Postgresql,
and I'm looking for any resources/insights/urls/books/etc that might aid
towards this end.

Anything you can forward will be greatly appreciated (and paid for in beer
if you're in the atlanta area ;-)).

Thanks!
John

Set Up Error - Failed to load resources from resource file Please check your set up. This plesently cordal and verbose error is greeting me in a very random and unpredictable way in a current VB .NET stand alone project I am doing (some times the program runs for 10 minutes, other times, I get the error right away). Has anyone seen this error in a VB.Net program? Any

I have a web app that converts files. The conversion can take up to 20 minutes depending on the file size and contents. So, to help the user I want to display an animation (gif/avi/swf) while this happens. (so that they don't assume it has stopped and go and submit the file again!) I have tried all sorts of options but cannot get any animation to play while IE/NS is waiting for the asp script to process and post back.

I have a form that takes some time to load because it has to populate some Data. I was trying to display a form on top of it with an activity bar so that user can see that something's going on. I have tried doing this and using a progress bar that counts up to 100 and then zeros down so that it should be constantly moving while the main or background windows finishes loading. The problem is that the "in progress window" doesn't display...

Hi All ! I am fighting with watching a large amount of files for their content and look for some keywords, which indicate dangerous error situations to me. This costs me currently hours each day. I know, how to use the FileSystemWatcher class. But in my case, I would like to open about 500 files and watch each of them for progress/enlarge by the creating process. If the recognized addendum to the file contains my keyword, I would...

Hi all, I am running a VS 2003 .NET project on my client machine (Win 2000 SP4, ..NET framework 1.1), running an ASP.NET application on a remote web server (Win 2000 Server, IIS 6.0, .NET framework 1.1). The application implements a Progress Bar webcontrol, that pops up in a window, using the HttpHandler interface, on the event of a button click. The handler's process request routine reads the status of the progress by querying the...

I am working on a program that reads and processes large text files (on the order of 32 MB, so not too huge), so I wanted to add a progress indicator so I can estimate when it will finish. I just need an estimate, so the exact byte count isn't essential. // reduced code // assume necessary #include's and using declarations for std // components ifstream file(filename.c_str());

Hi all, as already posted, I'm converting an app and I'm facing tons of cons. One of them is my .aspx files can be used by ComponentDesigner to load, e.g., SelectCommands' CommandText, but when I try to run the WebSite, the 1st time is needed a resource, an exception is thrown , stating "Could not find any resources appropriate for the specified culture or the neutral culture. Make sure "TessHockey.wfrmRiservato.resources" was...

I have a routine that returns one column value in string. This time I need to get total records in a table. So this routine is returning it in string. I want to convert this value to an appropriate data type that can be set as a maximum value for progress bar. I tried: progressBar1.Maximum = Convert.ToInt64(FoundVal) but it is not working. It generates error:

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
