Questions about erserver

Hello,
is it possible to use the erserver for high-availability solutions like a
two server-system with failover?
Or for systems with distributed servers on different locations?

Thank you

Daniel

Downloaded the eRServer 1.2 source (thanks, guys) and installed, and am having a problem. Anyone else dug into this yet? Situation: PG 7.3.4 on linux (master) Its been tried with 3 slaves, all 7.3.4, 2 on OS X and one on Linux. It builds fine. It installs fine. I go through the setup with no problems (calling createlang, doing the initial ers_setup, adding

I am installing erserver 1.2 right now, and am having a problem with the ers_addslave program. It uses the eRServer.pm perl module, which perl is failing to compile. Observe: $ ers_addslave --slaveserver=myslave --slavedb=mydb --slaveuser=myuser --slavepass=mypass String found where operator expected at /usr/local/erserver/lib/eRServer.pm line 69, near "sprint ",\n"" (Do you need to predeclare sprint?) syntax error at...

A new build of my modifications to eRServer is available at http://grayling.ravensfield.com. Changes/fixes: * Fixed existing column as unique problem I had a bug in the replication threads that manifested itself if you used existing columns as the unique column. Caused everything to stop. * Added RMI signaling structure There is now an RMI-based signaling structure to the whole thing. Currently, it only supports shutdown, but will...

To whom it may concern: I find the recent articles in various trade publications a little disturbing due to the lack of PostgrSQL mention. I continue to see articles about how IBM may be considering MYSQL for development an open_source web database. Why isn't PostgreSQL being considered or talked about by major industry giants? As a DBA I know that Postgres is far superior to MYSQL but if the industry directs it's energies towards...

I posted this to the asp.db group, but it doesn't look like there is much activity on there, also I noticed that there are a bunch of posts on here pertaining to database and asp. Sorry for cross-posting. I am trying to build a "checklist", where a user can navigate to an ASP page on the intranet which shows a list of "questions" that the user can check off. I am trying to figure out how to do this so that it is scalable, but I am...

Hi, I have used Python for a couple of projects last year and I found it extremely useful. I could write two middle size projects in 2-3 months (part time). Right now I am a bit rusty and trying to catch up again with Python. I am now appearing for Job Interviews these days and I am wondering if anybody of you appeared for a Python Interview. Can you please share the questions you were asked. That will be great help to me.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
