I've read some online resources that utilize various MySQL
command-line actions to migrate data from Access to MySQL.
The situation is this: a group of co-workers of mine will be using an
Access db in a shared source (for now, a directory.. ???) to be able
to generate reports on the fly. What they want to do is to be able to
migrate that data to a MySQL db instance that currently exists on a
different server.
What would be the best...

Hello group,
For everyone who thinks about moving from MySQL to PostgreSQL I have a
realy bad news - It's not worth. Why, You may ask... A few days ago I
have installed and tested PostgreSQL, becouse I realy need UTF-8 support
and subselects. I thought that PostgreSQL will be as good as MySQL but
also will give me that features, which aren't availble in MySQL. Well,
after installation and moving my MySQL dbs into PostgreSQL I decided to...

I've been thinking on this long and hard, and I can't seem to come up
with an answer on it.
Why is it almost always assumed the MySQL will be the server for nearly
any PHP app?
Why is it MySQL and not PostGRES or SQLite?
At this point the only reason I can think of is that MySQL has a much
more friendly name. But is that really it?

Yes, I know you've seen the above subject before, so please be gentle with
the flamethrowers.
I'm preparing to enter a discussion with management at my company
regarding going forward as either a MySql shop or a Postgresql shop.
It's my opinion that we should be using PG, because of the full ACID
support, and the license involved. A consultant my company hired before
bringing me in is pushing hard for MySql, citing speed and community...

It would appear that MySQL is making great strides into the commercial and
even the enterprise arena.
I am not seeing the same news coverage being said about Postgresql.
I believe Postgresql has been a much better rdbms than MySQL for a long
time, so then why has not Postgresql grabbed the commercial and enterprise
arena before MySQL did?

Hello,
I have changed DB from MySQL to PostgreSQL. When I have run my
application on PostgreSQL it was disaster - it was much slower than
MySQL...
I have tried to change PG configuration file etc.. no luck. After many
long days of thinking what is wrong I have made several tests with
"EXPLAIN" statement, and to my amusement there was many SeqScan - MySQL
didn't show that things. I have made some changes in PG db structure
(new indexes...

To whom it may concern:
I find the recent articles in various trade publications a little
disturbing due to the lack of PostgrSQL mention. I continue to see
articles about how IBM may be considering MYSQL for development an
open_source web database.
Why isn't PostgreSQL being considered or talked about by major industry
giants? As a DBA I know that Postgres is far superior to MYSQL but if
the industry directs it's energies towards...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
