How to get Subdomain with parse_url()

I am using the following function and parse_url() to attempt to grab the subdomain from my sites url

function selfURL() { $s = empty($_SERVER["HTTPS"]) ? '' : ($_SERVER["HTTPS"] == "on") ? "s" : ""; $protocol = strleft(strtolower($_SERVER["SERVER_PROTOCOL"]), "/").$s; $port = ($_SERVER["SERVER_PORT"] == "80") ? "" : (":".$_SERVER["SERVER_PORT"]); return $protocol."://".$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME'].$port.$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']; } function strleft($s1, $s2) { return substr($s1, 0, strpos($s1, $s2)); }
 
$url = selfURL();
 
$uri = parse_url($url);
$subdomain = $uri['user'];
 
echo $subdomain;
 

echo $subdomain; Is returning http://www.mydomain.com
when i am on the url http://subdomain.mydomain.com


Am I missing something here?

Try this:

$urlParts = explode('.', $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']);
print_r($urlParts);
