Whois lookup

Hi friends,

I have just started my own web hosting business. I am PHP programmer and having good knowledge of PHP. I am designing my own website for hosting. I have designed all pages except one for whois look up.

I have seen some sites where i can input domain name and can get complete details of that domain name (Name of registrar, domain expiry date, administrator's contact information for domain etc..,). I want to code this page but don't know the way this information will be retrieved.

My website is http://www.idealsolutions.in/

Any one can help me please?

Thanks in advance.

Try using Net_Whois.

If you are on a *nix machine, you can just pull a call to the whois command line utility. You could also pull from the IANA lookup.
I would suggest reading up on the basis of domain names and exactly how they work. Wikipedia is a great resource for this, as are ICANN, IANA., and IETF.
