PHP and Oracle support

Hi!
I need to access an Oracle DB from some PHP pages, so I need to compile my
PHP with Oracle support. So, the point is:

Do I have to download the whole 1.7GB stuff? Is there anything containing
only headers ald libs needed to compile? Any other solution? Or am I just
on the wrong path?

Thx

The short answer is yes; you have to download the entire thing, and do a
client install (which isn't particularly lightweight).

It may be possible to hack and fudge it down to the minimal libraries, but it
won't be supported, and it's likely to fail.

You can cut things down quite a bit by doing a Custom install and selecting
only the Oracle Net and developer options, and deselecting everything else.

The ADODB wrapper
http://php.weblogs.com/ADODB

supports Oracle, and claims you only need an Oracle client installed:

http://phplens.com/adodb/supported.databases.html

Hope that helps.
