e pattern modifier

Can someone give me an example of using the ’e’ pattern modifier in
php regex:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/referen....modifiers.php

Thanks in advance. Wish the manual had some examples on this one!

I tried to use a function with the ’e’ flag but it did not work (I had
no problem using a built-in function).

So I used preg_replace_callback instead, and everything works like a
charm.
