Learning PHP for a new beginner

I hear that PHP is one of the easiest languages to learn. It is easier
than Python or Pearl? Is it as useful as those two? I am attracted to
PHP as a first language, but I just want to be sure I will be able to
use it.

Opinions, thoughts, thanks!

For anyone who hasn't worked it out, this is a troll aimed at Lisa Horton,
who is a popular target in some newsgroups. Replying to this, given the way
the headers of the post are set up, just sends your reply to
rec.photo.digital, where it will be considered pointless noise. Replies to
a similar post in one of the Java newsgroups are already flooding the photo
group. :sigh:

Kinda funny how messages about dogs and boa constrictors are flooding
rec.photo.digital.

Funny, unless you're a digital photography enthusiast who uses r.p.d as a
primary resource for discussion, advice and information. To those people -
i.e. me - this looks like completely unfunny vandalism.
