would this idea be better off in php?

www.somestuff.batcave.net

Just a simple photo gallery of my own design.
What I want to do works quite well in javascript.
But I'm thinking it might be better off in php.

Just a few thumbnails and one large image for testing purposes.

Comments welcomed.

What you have constructed is some stuff that works entirely client side with
javascript, apparently to avoid interaction with the host, even at the cost
of a potentially huge initial download.

How do you intend to run a PHP solution client side?

It would definitely be better in PHP, but it may also be a lot of extra
work. Why not use some simple HTML. It always works nice to have some
thumbnails and then allow the user to see larger ones by clicking on the
images...

OY! Being a sarcastic pillock is MY job!

You might as well told the lad that there are 100s of php based galleries
available and that he'd be better off using one of those.

I'm currently working on a new version of py2exe, which will require Python 2.3 and later, because it uses the zipimport mechanism. Since py2exe is a distutils extension, and since C compilers are commonly available on most platforms except Windows, it would be fairly easy to let py2exe generate a C source file installing this import hook, and let distutils' C compiler build an executable file from this. Would this be useful, or would...

Hi, I am learning standard C++ as a hobby. The C++ Programming Language : Special Edition has been the principal source for my information. I read the entirety of the book and concluded that I had done myself a disservice by having not attempted and completed the exercises. I intend to rectify that. My current routine is to read a chapter and then attempt every exercise problem, and I find that this process is leading to a greater...

I have a situation where an app writes data of various types (primitives and objects) into a single dimensional array of objects. (This array eventually becomes a row in a data table, but that's another story.) The data is written once and then read many times. Each primitive read requires unboxing. The data reads are critical to overall app performance. In the hopes of improving performance, we have tried to find a way to avoid the...

I am hoping for a code example of how to do this, and hopefully it will help me to see an easy way to code what seems to be a huge monster. I need to create a form that has two pulldown menues (field names Option1 and Option2). Each will house a list of the 50 U.S. States. Users would then be able to choose two states, and get a listing for a courier used for pickup\deliveries (exp: My order is in Ohio, but I need it delivered to Maine....

There is discussion by the Python Software Foundation of offering cash bounties or perhaps periodic awards to the "best of" for magazine articles, video/screencast clips and such. If YOU would be swayed to get involved in producing content in exchange for cash, please speak up on the advocacy mailing list and also drop an email to Steve Holden <steve@holdenweb.com>, current champion of this idea and looking for encouragement. Ideas on...

Hey there, this will be somewhat a long post, but any response is appreciated! I have done many PInvoke in the past from C++ to C#, but I did PInvoke within C# not C++/CLI. Can someone explain more why C++/CLI would be better to PInvoke than doing the PInvoke in C#? Because, usually in C# as you already know we use DLLImport and extern

Access 97 does not provide a means of reading the most recent setting for SetWarnings Method. For example, if you had CBF that called a procedure in a global module and the following statement was executed: DoCmd.SetWarnings False Then you would not be able to take peek at the setting when processing returned to the calling

Hi. (Xposted to both comp.lang.c++ and comp.programming since I've got questions related to both C++ language and general programming) I've got the following C++ code. The first routine runs in like 65% of the time of the second routine. Yet both do the same thing. However, the second one seems better in terms of the way the code is written since it helps encapsulate the transformation in the inner loop better making it easier to read,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
