Hey, I've just noticed a somewhat annoying feature with PHP5 type hinting. You cannot hint types on optional arguments like this: class MyClass { function someFunc(Type1 $arg1, Type2 $arg2 = new Type2()) { }

Here I send it. Suggestions and all kinds of recomendations are more than welcomed. If it all goes ok, it'll be a PEP when I finish writing/modifying the code. Thank you. .. Facundo

Hi, I want to consume a Web Service that returns a choice, but my C++ client always receives the same returned type. On the other hand, when I am using a Java client, it is working fine (of course, the generated proxy is not the same). When I am looking at the C++ generated code, it seems fine, but when I am executing the code, I always get the first choice type.

Hi, I am trying to compile these set of C++ files and trying out class inheritence and function pointers. Can anybody shed some light why my compiler is not compiling them and where I am going wrong? I am using g++ (GCC) 3.3.5 on a Debian Sarge system. The compiler complains: //**************************** //**************************** Compiler output starts *********** cd /home/red/tmp/testprogs/

I have an abstract base class and two derived classes that I want to serialize and deserialize with schema validation. When I serialize instances of the derived classes the XmlSerializer adds the xsi:type="DerivedClass" attribute and the Instance Namespace. When I attempt to validate the xml upon deserialization the XmlValidatingReader chokes on this attribute value. I can't seem to find a way around this. Any suggestions?

Let me first say that I'm sure that this subject has come up before, and so forgive me for beating a dead horse. Secondly, let me say that Python's strength is its dynamic nature, and I don't believe that it should ever require a precondition scaffolding. With that said, I do believe that something like type hinting would be beneficial to the Python community, both for tool enablement and for disambiguous programming. Here is what I...

If I have a function that expects first argument to be of type (class foo) and second argument to be of type class foobar,how do I check/ ensure that I have been passed the right parameter types? In C++, it would be done something luike this: void Func(const foo& foo_objectRef, const foobar& foobar_objectRef) How can I enforce the requirement that only these data types can be passed to the function Func above?

I know I can force a variable passed to a function to be an object of class bar eg function foo(bar $bar_object) { //code }

Possibly a dumb question but is type hinting allowed with overloaded methods? Can one class have these two methods? public function doSelect(Criteria $c) { // some code here } public function doSelect(Creole $c) {

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
