Header Location Problem

3 New Member
Hello All,

I need some help here! My company decided to jump from Version 4.2 of PHP to the current release 5.2.9-2 as well as move from apache to IIS on Windows 2003. Of course we are running into all types of problems but for some reason the Header Location logic that use to work no longer works. It just hangs out there. I am not sure if there is a configuration problem or some type of enhancement to PHP but I have been unable to resolve this one. I have stripped all other code out and just try to redirect the page and it doesn't work.

Any help greatly appreciated.

That sure is a strange problem, luv737.

Have you checked IIS error logs, PHP error logs etc? You haven't given us much information to work on.

I try to call a Location header from an included class. It didn't work. If I didn't include but write the code of the class in the page everything is fine. So I thought it is an include problem but the instantiation of the class is even when included working. A print_r shows me the type of the class. What else can be a problem?

I have a problem doing a permanent redirect. It works only if I directly send the new location header (third line in sample below) but never in combination with sending a "301 Moved permanently" first (second line below). Unfortunately my server is shielding error messages from me (and I don't have access to the PHP.INI). ------- Sample ------- <? header("HTTP/1.1 301 Moved permanently"); header("Location: http://www.example.com");

I'm seeing a problem that has me flummoxed. The only thing I can think of is that I'm violating some rule I don't know about. I have some code that does some processing and then does a header('Location: ...) jump to page A on success or falls through to the jump to page B. This is the code: if ( mysql_query( 'LOCK TABLES tableX WRITE', $link ) ) { mysql_query( $q, $link ) ; // store the record

I get the following message when trying to run my script: "Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /var/www/html/newcustomer.php:23) in /var/www/html/newcustomer.php on line 332" ....newcustomer.php:23 is where my script begins, at line 23. before that line, only comments.

Hi. I am having a few header problems at the moment with a login page. I don't have my headers at the top of the page where I've learned I need to have them. However, I also know I'm supposed to have the session_start(); at the top of the page as well. So when you have two things that need to be the first which do you put first? And if I put one before the other will that cause problems? Below is a copy of the php from my page. It...

I have been using the HTTP "Location" reponse header to direct a symbolic request to a CGI program to an actual URL/file. For example, let us suppose the CGI program's table indicates xyz -> /this/that/the.other.thing.html, then redirect.cgi?xyz results in the page /this/that... being sent. redirect.cgi is usually in another directory than the page it is to supply. This works fine as far as it goes. A problem arises when the actual...

Hello, I have stumbled upon a problem, for which I can’t seem to find a solution for. I would like to offer files for downloading. To allow files to have duplicate names I renamed as random alphanumeric- strings. With the header command I can give them their “old name” back just before downloading. Then use readfile or loop through feof/echo fread to push the file’s contents. This works well. The amount of files has increased, so that...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
