PEAR.so, PEAR.php and Debian

I need to use a class to handle mbox files that uses PEAR. Since I'm using
Debian (both woody and, I simply apt-get(ed) php4-pear but I can't use it
becouse I get the error:

Warning: dl(): Unable to load dynamic library
'/usr/lib/php4/20020429/PEAR.so'- /usr/lib/php4/20020429/PEAR.so: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory in
/home/sandro/src/php/mbox/PEAR.php on line 11

in fact PEAR.so is not there, nor it seems there is any in Debian
distros...
In php4-pear package I see a file PEAR.php that raises the same error.

Is PEAR.so supposed to be there or not?

I don't have it on my deb box. Did you get php4-pear and php4 from the
same branch? I use apt-get -t unstable for all my php-related downloads...

Do you have PEAR.php?
Can you 'require_once(" PEAR.php")'?

I'm trying to use mbox.php from PEAR...

Yes: /usr/share/php/PEAR.php
Can you 'require_once(" PEAR.php")'?

I use MDB for my database abstraction - I have no problems with pear
libraries that I use... If you have PEAR.php, make sure that your
include path in php.ini is set correctly. For instance, mine is (as
reported from phpinfo() ".:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear"

Short of that, you _could_ copy the necessary PEAR files into the
directory structure for your site...

My hosting company has pre-intalled PEAR in a directory out of the web directory (and not in php-includes). I've tried including the absolute /to/path/ in the requre statement but it does not work. How would I access the PEAR packages? Many thanks.

Newbie alert. Is the standard php library exclusively for PHP5 or is there one for PHP4? How do I start using it? Is there a require or include directive needed in order to make use of it? Same question for PEAR. Is there a PEAR for PHP4 or only for PHP5? How do I start using its facilities? Is there a require or include directive? Lastly, I'd like to start using templates. From what I've read, they

I'm having a problem installing php. The compile seems to go fine, but when it gets to the install step I get the following errors. Does anyone have an idea of what might be the problem? We build our applications under three different environments (Linux i686, Linux x86_64, Solaris 8 Sparc). This is the first of the three on a RHEL 3 system using the current stable versions of the GNU toolchain in a segregated environment. Basically...

I've been battling to install PEAR on Windows XP now for too long. I am not sure what I need to do. When I run go-pear.php from the command line, I get the error message as shown at the end. I included everything in case there is something there that's helpful. I'm trying to install PEAR so that I can use PHPUnit. Thanks for the help!!!!

Hey folks - I did a little bit of googling and found references to this problem, but I could never find a solution. Maybe one of you has solved this before. We've got 4 or 5 development machines that we're using (solaris and linux), and we build apache 2.0.55 and PHP 4.4.2 on them each night. No problems. Over the weekend, we added a Debian Linux box into the mix, and it isn't happy with something.

I remember having problems with pear when I first installed it but got it running some time ago. This is on a windoze XP SP OS. I did not think it was correct because it pointed to "C\php\pear\PEAR". I writing a pear front-end GUI and I want to have it installed correctly. It seemed to have some duplication of directories between the lower and upper cased pear dir names. Should there be a "php\pear\PEAR" subdirectory? I thought it should...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
