Hello, in the documentation of the function mentioned above the authors
refer
to a publication by Oliver. Can somebody give the complete title?
Which file of the PHP Sourcecode contains the implementation of
similar_text?

thanks.

(driving me nuts) Hi there. I wonder if anyone can help? I'm including a page from Google in search.php, passing some parameters. So far so good. Then I'm asking to look through that Google page for a text match, and return true or false. eregi returns false whatever the case, similar_text returns true whatever the case. Can someone sort me out - oops, HELP me out ?

Hi, I know how to handle all my 404 errors, if I get any :). But sometime the user will type something wrong so instead of going to www.example/about.php they will ask to go to www.example/abkut.php. How could I do an SQL search for the word 'abkut.php' that would return 'about.php' as a possible match for the page? Many thanks

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here had a decent solution to this mysql/php problem. I have a mysql database with a list of groups (group_id, group_name, group_location, group_time, group_day). group_name must be unique for each group_location - so there is only ever one particular group name per group location.

Hi Guys, I have been writing a database search for my site, to increase the accuracy and chance of a successful resut i have used the metaphone() and similar_text() comparisons to find the database entries that contain the most words closely resembling the entered search criteria (only words with a 80%+ similarity are recorded). The value for each word over 80% is stored in an array, then the average worked out from that array to gauge...

Hi there, I would like to achieve some kind of rating of the results of a query. As it searches in different fields of the (metadata) database, matching keywords of the field of the "data variable names" are more important than matching keywords in the "description" field... I've read about the Levenshtein function, but a) I am not sure if this is the right track; and b) I don't really know how to implement this for the given need. Can...

When I add in the info in the script section everything falls apart. <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Compare Strings</title>

Hello, I want to add the 'did you mean' feature (like on Google) on my shareware site, where a lot of users have mistypes, and they get 0 results... so they exit the site very fast. Do you have any idea how I could implement such a thing? Does it require a dictionary or something? I found some scripts, but none of them gave relevant results... just stupid, irrelevant suggestions. Any help would be appreciated... sample code would be awesome....

Does anyone know if it's possible to take an array element in one array and compare it with every array element in another array, given that the spelling might not be exactly the same and there might be an extra or a missing apostrophe etc. Eg. array1=("Jon the cat","Run for your life","Miss Marple's Great adventure") array2=("John the cat","Running for your life","Miss Marples Great adventure") I'm wondering whether if I took "Jon...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
