Hello,
I am wondering which of these two methods is the fastest: std::copy, which
is included in the standard library, or a manually written pointer copy?
Do any of you have any experience with this?
I would think that the library function std::copy would perform optimally,
as it is a library function, and therefore the writers of this function
would know best how to optimize it ... but some tests seem to indicate
that my pointer copy...

Coming from the C++ world I can not understand the reason why copy
constructors are not used in the .NET framework. A copy constructor creates
an object from a copy of another object of the same kind. It sounds simple
but evidently .NET has difficulty with this concept for some reason. I do
understand that .NET objects are created on the GC heap but that doesn't
mean that they couldn't be copied from another object of the same kind when...

Hi,
I have replaced my BYTE* by a vector<BYTE> and before I used to do :
void CCardRecord::GetRecData(int nOffset, int nDataSize, CString& csValue)
{
BYTE *pTmp = NULL;
pTmp = new BYTE;
memset(pTmp, 0, nDataSize + 1);
//memcpy(pTmp, &m_pData, nDataSize);

When compiled with Visual C++ .NET 2003 (only), the program below aborts as though no matching catch clause is present. If the copy constructor of A is made public, it successfully catches the exception instead. If I step into __CxxThrowException in debug/assembly mode, it looks like the pThrowInfo parameter created by the compiler excluded typeid(A) from pCatchableTypeArray. It would be reasonable to fail to catch A by value because of the...

Hello All,
I¡¯m using a context menu associated with some pictureboxes to provide
copy/paste functionality. Copying the image to the clipboard was easy. But
pasting an image from the clipboard is proving to be more difficult. These
pictureboxes are bound to an AccessDB. If the user wants to add an image,
they select an image using an OpenFileDialog:
Dim result As DialogResult = Pic_Sel.ShowDialog()
If (result = DialogResult.OK) Then

Hi,
I've got a vb.net winforms app. Out of the box, I can use Ctrl X, C and V as
expected in controls like textboxes. I've got a menustrip, and if I click the
link "Add standard items" which adds Cut copy and paste commands, this
functionality no longer works. It seems now I need to implement handlers for
these functions. I tried to do so, but say the paste handler, I need to call
paste on a specific control and that isn't necessarily...

Hi all,
I'm trying to implement a certain class but I have problems regarding
the copy ctor. I'll try to explain this as good as possible and show
what I tried thusfar. Because it's not about a certain code syntax but
more a 'code architecture' thing , I'll use simple example classes
(which are certainly not complete or working...) just to illustrate the
idea (and I may make some mistakes because I'm not that experienced...).
The...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
