Installing phpBB 2 on Windows

leo
I am trying to installing phpbb 2 on Windows XP to host a very lightly used
BB, with the main objective of trying to install the phpBB, web server and
such.

I am using Windows because I don't have a spare machine to install Linux.

I am using these components:

Apache 2.0.50
php 5.0.1
MySQL 4.0.20
ActivePerl 5.6.1.638
phpBB 2.0.10
phpMyAdmin 2.5.7

I went through lots of info on the web but I still can't get the pbpBB to
install. I typed in everything in install.php and hit "Start Install" and it
simply returns to the same installation page.

I am a home cable modem user with the typical restrictions, i.e. port 80
being blocked and a dynamic ip which, luckily, doesn't get changed too
frequently.

I have a D-Link router and configure HTTP uses port 8000 and have it
translates to internal ip address, i.e. 192.168.1.xxx at port 80.

If there are people doing the same thing with complete step by step
instructions, I would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

post your question on the forum at phpbb.com. That forum would
include people who are specialized in phpbb (unlike this one).

I've searched a few sites and read a dozen things about installing PHP on IIS6, but I'm still having problems getting my PHPBB message board working. It works fine on my IIS5 server, but I want to move everything to the new 2003 server. Anyone got a tested, easy to follow, link on installing PHP on IIS 6? Thanks --

Hey folks... I have a standalone phpBB forums and just recently installed PHPNuke on my website. I know phpnuke comes with it's own version of phpBB. How can I make it possible for members who register through phpnuke to automatically be register with my standalone phpBB? If this is not possible, how can I transport my standalone phpbb to the one that is included with PHPNuke? (I've visited both phpbb forums and phpnuke forums and...

Well the title might be a bit misleading: Some time ago I was trying to reverse engineer the authentification system in phpBB because I was building a community site in which there was a phpBB Forum integrated as central component. The idea was to give the users the possibility to log in once and then move on the entire site without having to bother about login again. It didn't go very well, I was able to use the login data and some other...

Please does someone know whether a tool that I look for exists and where? I need some PHP script that would transform phpBB codes to valid XHTML. phpBB codes are the metatags used to format posts to phpBB-powered forums, like the one at http://www.winlyrics.com . I started writing my own parser, but still I would rather use some more tested code. Thanks, Ondra

Hi, Is it possible to configure phpBB to display threads "newsgroup style"? What I mean by this is to show replies to the top level post indented in a tree structure. One thing I cannot stand about phpBB is that all replies to a top-level topic are in a long train. You never know if somebody is replying to the person before him or the original poster, etc. If not, does anybody know another open source forum tool that does this,...

I am looking for a solution to add on-line drawing tool to a phpBB discussion board. The idea would be that the users can draw their own simple drawings with the tool and attach them easily as images in the discussion. The idea is to easily add small drawings to the postings. The drawign tool should be easy to use and learn. It should be easily integrate to the phpBB system.

I already posted this message, but it didn't work or something. So if this is a duplicate, ignore it. I just can't figure out how to install this extension. From what I understand, there needs to be a .dll file located in the extensions folder in the php root directory, and there needs to be a line in the php.ini file that is uncommented that loads the .dll extension. But which .dll is it? Is it already in that folder, or do I need to...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
