Web host has PHP 5 "as a module"...what' s that?

I'm learning PHP and in the process of choosing a good web hosting
site. One that I'm interested in has PHP 5 as a module. Others say
simply that they offer PHP 5.

What does the phrase "as a module" mean?

Thanks for any help.

What does the phrase "as a module" mean?
Probably means that PHP is installed as a server module. The common
alternatives are CGI and FastCGI.

I have a resume in PDF format and I want anyone who LEFT-OR-RIGHT clicks the link to force the file to be saved, and in any event _not_ opened. Since the PDF will be in his cache in any event, I would just as soon place the employer in control of what directory he wishes to save it in, and there are two salient reasons for this: 1. I want him to OWN the document 2. I want him to FIND the document, quickly, on his hard drive In any...

Is there an advantage to either of these methods, or is it simply a matter of style? I used to use the "as" method, but later gave it up for the "is" method as the intent of the code seems a little clearer to me. I now have some projects coming up where the baseTypeCollection will contain 5k to 10k objects that will have to be searched for various sub types of which I only expect to find ~50 to ~100 matches. Thanks! foreach (baseType...

Hi, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.X. I'm writing command-line PHP scripts for the first time. I get the messages below. What do they mean? Are these operating system library modules, or something in PHP that I don't have? Do I need to install more Linux packages? Or adjust PHP in some way?

I want to occasionally do a "redirected" import of a python module which is located offside of the legacy sys.path (Windows) - for example a tool is maintained within "cgi-bin" web stuff (while I do not want to add that whole folder's stuff to the sys.path) ..pth adds only directories to the python path. is there a convenient/short method to create a python "module pointer" (file) to such module - maybe just create such pointer file...

I used these codes to provide a default "Save As" filename for browsers: Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + fileName); Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream"; But if there are space chars in the file name, FireFox would split the recommed file name, and use the first part only. For example, if fileName=="aaa bbb.watever", then the "Save As" dialog will take "aaa"

Hi,all. I see from "http://docs.python.org/tut/node11.html" that "Name spaces are created at different moments and have different lifetimes. The namespace containing the built-in names is created when the Python interpreter starts up, and is never deleted. The global namespace for a module is created when the module definition is read in; normally, module namespaces also last until the interpreter quits." So can I "delete" the namespace...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
