first you need to have this at the root of your site in a htaccess file:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule !\.(js|ico|gif| jpg|png|css)$ index.php

replace index.php with your default page as necessary.

That code forwards all non-resource URL to your home page.

Then you need to PARSE the URL. I won't go into it here but
there are lots of resources for you that can guide you through it.

What you're wanting is called human-friendly URLS

so this:

http://www.example.com/example.php?pag eid=20

can be replaces with this:

http://www.example.com/pageid/20

Zend Framework does this:

Hello everybody Does anybody know why w3c validator can not get pages that use 404 htaccess redirection? I set up two web sites so that clients request non-existent urls, but htaccess redirects calls to a script which parses the url and produces requested pages. It works fine with browsers, but when I try to validate the page I get a 404 error - which bewilders me, because I thought Apache does the redirection internally without sending...

Please forgive me if my English is poor. Also please tell me if this is wrong place to ask this question and tell me better place. When searching web for information Re: .htaccess and redirecting, I see many different examples of methods. I wish to be able to say "this is good method that I can always use" even if exists other good methods. I wish not be confused by many different examples of methods.

I am a very amatuer c++ programmer and a somewhat accomplished composer. I am trying to write some code that creates 'self similar' melodies from a base melody the user inputs. This musical idea was created by Tom Johnson. Apologies to those who are not musically literate, but as this is basically a mathmatical problem I think most here can follow the logic. Lets keep eveything in C Major, that's all the white keys on the piano....

Hi, If I want to call functions that don't return int without declaring them, will there be any harm? I only want to assign the function(return value) to the type that it returns, so I don't see how the return value comes to play here. Ex

I think C# is forcing us to write more code by enforcing a rule that can be summarized as 'A local variable must be assgined *explicitly* before reading its value.' If you are interested in what I mean, please look at this feedback my me: http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/productfeedback/viewfeedback.aspx?feedbackid=3074c204-04e4-4383-9dd2-d266472a84ac If you think I am right, please vote for this feedback.

Hi, my site allows to upload images. For that reasons I have created a directory which have "drwxrwxrwx"-permission. I.e. everybody can write in that directory. I understand that it is not save, because everybody can upload to this directory some scripts which would destroy my file system or store some information. To make things a little bit better I put there the following .htaccess file: php_flag engine off IndexIgnore *

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
