How can I trace advertisement clicks?

Hi all,

Can anyone provide some assistance with how to track advertisement clicks on a website. I need to be able to track IP/country and time as well as number of clicks.

Any help would be appreciated :)

Sure! its easy... first you need to learn PHP and MySQL

This sounds like a project i worked on, and i quit, because of the architecture they had in place.

so Step 1: make sure you code in an MVC architecture

Step 2. Create necessary tables in MySQL to hold advertising data.

Step 3. Have each banner click through to a page where you grab and calculate the necessary things. PHP gives you the IP address, the time, and you can increment the "count" column in the table row. There's ways to find the country as well through plugins and other software. Once that is recorded, just close that new popup page and open the link where the ad should go to in another window.

Step 4: enjoy!
