postgresql or mysql future

why mysql is more diffused than postgresql?
Postgresql licence is really free more than mysql,
but why postgresql is not much diffusing?
the future will be of mysql?

I think that there is much more money in MySQL project.

MySQL had some advantages in the past, like per user quota,
Not sure what is the current state.
MySQL was ported to Win32, while Postgres still run on
Cygwin, I think.

Postgres advantages, like good SQL implementation, ability to
perform complex queries were not needed, because there
are a lot of developers with only basic knowledge of SQL.

Hello group, For everyone who thinks about moving from MySQL to PostgreSQL I have a realy bad news - It's not worth. Why, You may ask... A few days ago I have installed and tested PostgreSQL, becouse I realy need UTF-8 support and subselects. I thought that PostgreSQL will be as good as MySQL but also will give me that features, which aren't availble in MySQL. Well, after installation and moving my MySQL dbs into PostgreSQL I decided to...

Beside its an opensource and supported by community, what's the fundamental differences between PostgreSQL and those high-price commercial database (and some are bloated such as Oracle) from software giant such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase? Is PostgreSQL reliable enough to be used for high-end commercial application? Thanks

Yes, I know you've seen the above subject before, so please be gentle with the flamethrowers. I'm preparing to enter a discussion with management at my company regarding going forward as either a MySql shop or a Postgresql shop. It's my opinion that we should be using PG, because of the full ACID support, and the license involved. A consultant my company hired before bringing me in is pushing hard for MySql, citing speed and community...

Would PostgreSQL be a good enough choise for GnuCash (or Quickbooks or the likes) type of program? What could be the potential drawbacks of using PostgreSQL (perhaps its big size)? Hi Database Gurus, Not to start a war among fanatics, but I just wanted to get honest opinion/advise of smart folks like you about this. We are about to begin development for a data intensive web based application and are faced with the choice of database software. We (at least currently) are focusing on free software. Some basic research has indicated both Postgresql and Mysql as the best of lot. Can people please advise as to pros/cons...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
