How does Ruby compare to Python?? How good is DESIGN of Ruby compared to Python?
Python's design is godly. I'm wondering if Ruby's is godly too.
I've heard it has solid OOP design but then I've also heard there are
lots of weird ways to do some things kinda like Perl which is bad for me.
Any other ideas?

Hi,
this strikes me as a pretty basic question, but google didn't help, so I'm
asking it here:
How do I get a list of functions defined in a module in the module itself?
Like this:
--- module functions.py
def foo():

Does it mean "(sizeof(int))* (p)" or "sizeof( (int)(*p) )" ?
According to my analysis, operator sizeof, (type) and * have the same
precedence, and they combine from right to left. Then this expression should
equal to "sizeof( (int)(*p) )", but the compiler does NOT think so. Why?
Can anyone help me? Thanks.
Best regards.

Predefined class member functions and inheritance
How many member functions on earth can be provided (predefined) by
standard-compliant compilers?
Scott Meyers says that there are 6: (1)default constructor, (2)copy
constructor, (3)destructor, (4)assignment operator, (5)address-of
operator (non-const), (6)address-of operator (const), in `Effective

I'm still not completely sure what's going on with C++ I/O regarding the

I have created a small program that prints out an organization chart in
PHP using the GD lib's imagecreate, imageline and imagestring
functions. Basically, a user selects an employee from a drop-down list
to generate an on-the-fly graphical organization tree. A function is
called to set the selected employee's data into an imagestring and draw
imagelines around it. Next a recursive function is called to query for
and display all direct...

I see that static is more restricted in C# than in C++. It appears
usable only on classes and methods, and data members, but cannot be
created within a method itself. Surely this is possible in C# in some
way? Or maybe no, because it is similar to a global variable (with its
scope restricted) which C# is dead against?

Is there any way to tell PHP predefined variables ($GLOBALS, $argv,
$argc, $_GET, $_POST…) from *global* user-defined variables? Neither
$GLOBALS nor get_defined_vars() put user data apart.
I’m writing a class to generate PHP definition files for syntax
highlighting with two features:
1. It takes data from current install (e.g., you get function names from
loaded extensions).
2. You can choose whether to include user data or not.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
