I'm a Computer Science student and I was introduced to PHP last semester by one of my professors while I was getting help with C++. He set me up with an account on the school's Apache server and instructed me to use Putty.exe to run Linux commands, CoreFTP for file transfers, and EditPlus to code my PHP/HTML.
The problem is that he set most of this up for me and now, when I have time to actually play around with it, I haven't the slightest idea how to get things going.
What I was hoping to do was create an index page with all of the programs and documents I've done for Computer Science. I wanted this page to be dynamic so I could upload more files/programs/documents/etc. and have access to it from anywhere I can find an internet connection.
I'm not very familiar with Linux, although I've been trying to read up on it, and I'm not exactly sure if I can set permissions using CoreFTP or if that has to be done using Linux. I'm also concerned about the level of security that I attach to each program because I don't want other people to be able to alter the programs.
If I could gain an understanding of this, I have a good enough background in HTML and C++ that PHP shouldn't be too difficult for what I'm trying to accomplish until I take a class on it in the fall.
Thanks for any info you can throw my way...

I use coreFTP and yes you can set file permissons on it; right click the file -> properties.
That's all i can say for now.. i'm not too sure what you would like answered :P
I want to have a main web page where all the graphics and stuff are located, but I also want to have an index/directory page where all of my images, documents, programs, etc. are located.
I guess part of what is confusing me is how I can create additional web pages. I know how to do it in HTML (Every page that is created can reference another page through a link, but every page is saved as an html doc), but I've never done anything like this with a back-end server/database.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".

This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...
