Hi, I'm trying to setup PHP so it will use a remote SMTP server.
I'm going to sound like a newbie but how? I know you need to alter
php.ini, change SMTP from localhost to the SMTP server and the address
to the correct one but I wondered about passwords? Outlook Express
needs a password so how would I do it.
Unless anyone has any other suggestions/tutorials. Oh and just so you
know my port 25 is blocked by ISP, I think that limits my...

In my Win app I found that using the SMTP object doesn't release resources after closing the application. During testing I have to open and close the app many times and I found that after about three times it locks up when I call the Send() method and returns the error "Could not access CDO.Message Object". I've set up the virtual smtp server on my IIS 5.1 like so:
1. Assign IP address to "All Unassigned", and listen to port 25.
2. Access Connection granted to "127.0.0.1".
3. Relay only allow "127.0.0.1".
4. Authentication: "Anonymous access" only.
5. Outbound connection listen to TCP 25.

Hi,
I just want to send a very simple email from within python.
I think the standard module of smtpd in python can do this, but I
haven't found documents about how to use it after googleing. Are there
any examples of using smtpd ? I'm not an expert,so I need some examples
to learn how to use it.
Or maybe there is a better way to to this?

I have a web page that at the click of a button must send a bunch (1000+)
emails. Each email is sent individually. I have the code working fine,
using Mail Message classes and smtp and all that. But sometimes even when
I'm just sending one e-mail the web page takes a minutes or so to post. Can
anyone tell me why it is so slow, or how to fix the problem?
To address this I am thinking of just creating a queue table to write the
