Hi: I'm having problems reading a Microsoft Access file from my ASP.Net app on a Windows Server 2003 machine. The error message: The Microsoft database engine cannot open the file, <my_file>. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data. I've read some info about this (microsoft support article q316675) but I'm still confused on what to do?

I use windows 2000 and Visual Studio 2003. I have a vbnet web application on our intranet that needs to read a text file that sits on a different server. The general user does not have access to the server where the text file is sitting. Is there any way my web application can be given access rights to read the text file? At the moment we copy the text file to the web server where it can be read by the web application. We have it...

I try to follow Steve's paper to build a database, and store a small text file into SQL Server database and retrieve it later. Only difference between my table and Steve's table is that I use NTEXT datatype for the file instead of using IMAGE datatype. I can not use SqlDataReader to read the data. I need your help, Thanks. -David (1) I have a table TestFile for testing: ID int FileName navrchar(255)

Hi all: I have an ASP.NET form that reads an Excel file and populates a datagrid. If I load the form in IE on the server, and select a local file, the code works fine. However if I load the form in IE from a client (http://server/readexcel.aspx) and try to read a local Excel file, the file cannot be opened. I imagine it's some kind of a security problem in sending the Excel data back to the web server, but I am not sure.

So far I have managed to complete my testing with a local text file using the StreamReader Class. Is it possible to use this class when trying to read and write to a text file located on a server? If so, could you please provide some examples? I have setup a free web host with www.ifastnet.com and have some connection...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
