I have a survey form that I want mailed to the client. I've built the
message body as plain text and tested it by writing it to a file and
examining the file. It's being built correctly.
When I send it through mail by a command similar to:
mail($to, 'Survey Results', $msgBody, "From: xxx@yyy.com");
the message gets broken up. At periodic places in the file, I seea
"!" (without the quotes) being inserted and the text format is broken....

I'm just now trying to give my site a character encoding of UTF-8. The
site has been built in a hodge-podge way over the last 6 years. The
validator tells me I've lots of characters that don't belong to the
UTF-8 encoding. Other than changing them by hand, can anyone think of
a clever way to find and convert these characters?

I'm writing an class library that I imagine people from different countries
might be interested in using, so I'm considering what needs to be provided
to support foreign languages, including asian languages (chinese, japanese,
korean, etc).
First of all, strings will be passed to my class methods, some of which
based on the language (and on the encoding) might contain characters that
require more that a single byte.

i have an application that will take user input from a text box and write it
to an access database. i need to make sure that if they ever enter a single
line of text that it has at least 1 space for every 40 characters.
so before i write the info to the database i have to make sure there is no
lines of text that are longer than 40 characters without a space, and if

I've been messing about with a function to get a text block to not blow its sides.
I need it to be 29 characters wide and 3 lines high only. I have'nt had much success with the standard php functions from php.net and have tried variations myself, but cannot get it to work.

I was testing to post a form and echo message according to the
submitted box using else if and then mail() the box result to myself
just for testing the procedure but i got some problems:
1# the text box value is not echoed to my result page
2# also the mail doesn't send me the text box value

I'm using PHP version 4.4.3.
The manual page for PHP's mail() function (URL below) says that for the
message (IE. email body) "Each line should be separated with a LF (\n).
Lines should not be larger than 70 characters."
