The host a client wants to use requires authentication to relay messages.
How do I set the authentication (username/password) before using the
smtpmail.send(mailmessage) method?
Surely this must be a common thing to do. I have been utterly unable to
google an answer.

Suddenly I need to change an email sending program from using SMTP to
Authenticated SMTP (ASMTP), and my old code
SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "my.smtpauth.server";
SmtpMail.Send(Message);
no longer works.
Somehow I need to pass my password to the ASMTP server, but the SmtpMail
object doesn't appear to support this. Is there a work-around?

I am tired of sending mail from the built-in SMTP service for so many
reasons (errors are nondescriptive in the event log, it doesn't let me
control which IP address it sends from, and it identifies itself as the
computer name which is not in domain.com format, triggering spam filter
problems).
Instead, I want to have my code send through an SMTP server of a company
that we pay for mail service. But they require a username and password....

Hi everyone,
I've found this code that can send SMTP commands via sockets (25).
The problem is when I send the command: "rcpt to:whatever@yahoo.com", I
get a server response: "503 This mail server requires authentication
....".
Is there a way to create this authentication, to make this happen?
Thanks in advance,
Danny

Hi,
I am working with a web site that uses CDONTS from a function in a Com+ component to send mail to clients after sign up etc, as well as sending clients mail to support from a web form.
A virtual default SMTP server is running in !!S (6.0)
We have moved the system to a new server (Windows 2003 Server as the previous installation) and the mail worked fine a few days. Now we cannot send any mail from the system.
SMTP is not my...

How do I provide the Client Authentication with the code below.

Currently, I run postfix on my own server to send message from my site
(password requests, account activation notices and other messages).
I have phpMailer on the server and all the messages (currently about
1000 messages are sent daily) are sent by SMTP through postfix.
I'm contemplating moving this particular site's email to Gmail.
Is it possible to send mail through Gmail's servers with authentication
and everything?

Hi all,
I'm trying to send an e-mail from a vb.net web form. I can create the
message, but when it comes to actually sending it I get the following
error. "Mailbox name not allowed. The server response was: Server
policy dictates you must authenticate first "
So far as I can tell, my code is doing what it's meant to, but I'd
appreciate someone casting an eye over it to make sure. This is based
on a couple of examples found through...

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
