IonCube and Zend Encoder just encrypt the code, so you can send it to
other people and it will still run on their servers, however, they
will not be able to modify it. Some encoders (there are quite a few)
allow you to set trial periods, so people will only be able to use the
software for a certain period of time.

The con is usually the price - they can be pretty pricey, especially
the Zend Encoder.

Ioncube has online encoding per file, generally 50 cents US$ per file.
Ive been using it as of late to encrypt distributed scripts to ensure
they arent edited as they work in a peer to peer system.

They also have a test mode where it encrypts and expires in 8 hours which
you can use for free to test it out. IMO this is the way to go, allows
small indie developers like myself to reap the benefits of encoding
without raping my wallet.

A new PHP Coding Contest has been released at Codewalkers.com. The latest challenge is to play a variation of the Numbers Game as seen on the UK television show Countdown. Basically, you are supplied with 6 numbers and a target number. Your program should manipulate the 6 numbers with basic arithmetic operators to reach the target number. More information can be had at: http://codewalkers.com/php-contest.php

Hi there ! I am curretly looking for suitbale solutions for encoding PHP scripts after developing a couple of comercial applications in PHP. Has anybody made any experience with several encoders like IONCUBE, SOURCEGUARDIAN, ZEND, etc... so far? I just tested an evaluation copy of IONCUBE's php encoder which worked pretty fine. Runtime decoding is really fast and easy to implement.

Have any of you who manage a PHP based site observed some strange behavior with foreach() in the 4.3.10 release? I am seeing different behavior with foreach with 4.3.10 than I have previously. The PHP web site (www.php.net) indicates 4.3.10 incorporates foreach from PHP5 as a back port. Anyone else seeing similar problems? Mike

Hi, I'm having a problem with what appears to be a bug in php, where one of my scripts runs fine on my own server, and it runs fine *sometimes* on my webhost's server, but I call it from within a certain script on my webhsot then php just dies, no error message, nothing. It's all a bit complex, but basically I want to know how to disable ANYTHING that might be causing php to behave strangely on the webshost. Baring in mind that it's shared...

I am going to use Ioncube or Zend compiler/encoder to deploy PHP5 applications on servers at customers premisses. The factors that affect choice are: - reliability - easy of deployment at Apache/UNIX, Apache Windows and IIS/Windows - price Performace is not important

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
