I have a 4000 line php cgi script that is not memory or cpu intensive.
It runs in 1 second. Now I am getting a lot of customer requests to add
in new features. My question is if there is a point where my code will
be too long and take too long to run (i.e > 5 seconds). I would really
like to have my script rival the functionality of a desktop application
but can php do it?
My server is a dual processor with 2GB ram.

Hello,
In the init-script contained in the RPMs downloadable from the PostgreSQL
site (I checked the one for Fedora), an explicit locale is set before
running initdb. - And the explicit locale is not "C".
This means that a PostgreSQL installation will not use indexes for LIKE
queries (I just ran into this). See
http://www.postgresql.org/docs/faqs/FAQ.html#4.8

Hi,
the bdist_wininst command of distutils allows me to specify a script to
be executed at the end of the installation. That's great, but how can I
know the installation path from inside the script?
I've already tried os.getcwd(), but it just return the directory where the
setup was started.

I am doing customization for Microsoft Pos. I am working on
installation package now. I added some new tables and stored
procuedures and generated SQL Script for that. During the installation
process, after user entered the server name and database name, how to
open the script file (*.sql) and run that to update database? So they
don't have to open Query Analizer to run it. The idea is to get
everything done during the installation...

Hi all,
I have a small python script that doesn't depend on anything except
the standard interpreter. I would like to convert it to a small .exe
file on Windows that can distributed alone without introducing
additional dependencies. I need to assume, because of other python
scripts, that anyone using this has python installed anyway so I hoped
it would be possible to do this. (Why I want to do this is a bit
involved but I can explain if...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
