Hi radmilof. Welcome to The Scripts!

That sounds like a charset problem.
What charset are you using?

Could you post the code that is causing the problem?

Long story longer. I need to get web user input into a backend system that a) only grocks single byte encoding, b) expectes the data transer to be 1 bytes = 1 character, and c) uses the HP Roman-6 codepage system wide. As much as it sounds good, UTF/Unicode encoding is not an option, nor is changing the codepage. Tackling the first is easy via Encoding.Default.GetBytes and shoving it over the network. However, Encoding.Default is the...

Hi, I'm an XML newbie, and not sure if this is the appropriate newsgroup to post my question, so feel free to suggest other newgroups where I should post this message if this is the case. I'm having issues using XmlTextWriter, saving it out to a file with UTF8 encoding, and seeing "dirty", or "human unreadable" characters show up *right before* the XML declaration. I need to have the XML declaration state "encoding = utf-8", but also...

Hi, I have double byte characters in the content that I am returning using Web Services. However, the encoding in the xml file returned by Web Services is utf-8 and I am unable to read the content, not even by changing browser encoding setting to the appropriate one. I implemented SoapExtension (called EncodingExtension) to rewrite the xml to change the encoding="utf-8" to encoding="windows-1252" in BeforeDeserialize SoapMessage...

1. How do I determine which encoding a xmldocument or xmlreader uses when opening a document? I'm not just talking about the <?xml encoding="utf-8"?attribute, but the actual encoding of the characters in the underlying stream. 2. How do I make sure that the encoding of my created xmldocument or xmlwriter is in utf-8? Thanks! /mortb

I've stumbled upon unexpected behavior of the .NET 2.0 System.Xml.XmlWriter class when using it to write data to a binary stream (System.IO.Stream). If the amount of data is less than a certain value (which varies depending on the data being written), characters not available in the encoding specified in the Encoding property of the XmlWritterSettings instance used to create the XmlWriter are being written to the resulting XML document as...

My task is to read html files from disk and save them onto SQL Server database field. I have created an nvarchar(max) field to hold them. The problem is that some characters, particularly html entities, and French/German special characters are lost and/or replaced by a question mark. This is really frustrating. I have tried using StreamReader with ALL the encodings available and none work correctly. Each encoding handles some characters...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
