Problem with MySQL UPDATE

1 New Member
PHP version 4.4.4
MySQL Version 4.1.21

There is a problem in this code:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. ....
  2. $sql = 'UPDATE Msg2Ptg hdr="Test", dt1="09.08.2007 10:32:14 ", About="xxx " limit 1';
  3. mysql_query($sql) or die ('Error on UPDATE:<br>' . mysql_error());

This cause next message:

Error on UPDATE:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '="Test", dt1="09.08.2007 10:32:14 ", About="xxx " limit 1' at line 1

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Stoyan. Welcome to TSDN!

Your UPDATE query is missing the SET keyword. It should look more like this:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. UPDATE Msg2Ptg
  2. SET
  3.   hdr="Test",
  4.   dt1="09.08.2007 10:32:14 ",
  5.   About="xxx "
  6. limit 1

Dear news-team I'm using MySQL 4.0.15a (with PHP 4.3.4rc1 and Apache 2.0.47 under FreeBSD). I'm having problems when updating a column of a table (it updates an extra column). As an example, I provide this sample (data_registre, data_ultima_connexio are the outputs of the SELECT).

I'm having a problem with a bit of code that I have "adopted". It was partially complete when I took it over. The function of the code is to read a log file, locate files described in that log file and fill in a few tables in a couple of MySql databases. The program is using a number of std objects, hashmaps, linklists, vectors etc. It makes direct calls to the MySql api. The version of MySql is 3.23.58. Redhat 9, g++ (GCC) 3.2.2...

When I try to update record, I kept getting this error: Row cannot be located for updating. Some values may have been changed since it was last read. No other users are accessing the database - only 1 user is accessing the database. I open the data using adLockOptimistic locking.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
