I am trying to write a Perl Function for one of the databases I'm building a web application for. This function is triggered to occur BEFORE INSERT OR UPDATE. This function is complex in that it involves fields in two different tables which need to be updated, where the updates one receives depend on and must actually also reflect the same data entered into one of the tables explicitly by the user. I basically want to make sure that...

I need some assistance or advise in composing code for a global function module or a related one for populating values in text boxes on reports and forms with a name, actually several different names. There are over 50 fields in the database requiring name updates and I need to do this several times. And I don't want to use a table/form to perform this task. Here is a bit more information. Yes, I have done the changing of the values in...

I have an A97 module called modWorkdayFunctions in: http://www.oakland.edu/~fortune/WorkdayFunctions.zip It allows the counting of workdays taking into consideration up to 11 U.S. holidays. More holidays can be added easily. Also, there is a boolean flag for including or excluding Saturdays or Sundays as part of the work week. The only thing I know of that is missing is that some holidays are observed on a Friday or a Monday if they...

I need to use double data entry with an MS Access database. I have read many arguments and reasons against this on this group but I have to do this. I have seen various tips on how this can be done including the use of queries but this hasn't worked satisfactorily. I have two people who know Access just barely enough to enter the data so what I really want is something like the msgbox function to pop up a window whenever the person...

I recently developed a compact function to efficiently allow users to change info in a form (like account info, contact info, etc.) and then the function automatically identifies what's changed and scans the database to find out where to change it. Basic concept is form is populated from an object from mysql tables, user changes fields (usually few - not for creating new accounts), $_POST is compared against an array/object with current field...

Hello, I have one simple query joining two tables with left outer join on 3 fields and using MIN on two fields. These two tables have lot of data about 3 mil in total. I am trying to migrate db from MS Access to SQL 2005. I get about 689000 rows in SQL Server, vs 863000 rows in MS Access. SELECT T1., T1., T2., MIN ( T1.), MIN(T1. ), T1.COUNT

I have 1 FE database which can be linked to a number of BE databases. The BEs are all different Clubs e.g. Sailing Club, Yacht Club, Bridge Club, Family etc. Problem is if I change anything in the table structure or relationship of one of these clubs, I want to make sure I do it with the other clubs as well. Has anyone got routine that will check that each BE database has 1) All the tables (even though some will be empty e.g. Bridge...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
