No, this isn't the right place to ask. This is a PHP group, not an

Hello, I'm converting books from Docbook to HTML-chunk. For my needs it is necessary to append the list of figures at the end instead the beginning of the book as it is default in docbook. After many different attempts I'm stumped :-(. So i could really need any help. My last attempt which didn't work: <!-- Thought that I can call the list of figures when there is an appendix-tag

I'm one of those people who practices what some consider "dull" and others consider "elegantly conservative" page design. I appreciate good traditional typography and standards-compliant liquid displays, and I only reluctantly experiment with two-column layouts from time to time. One component of traditional book typography has always been the figure/caption combination. I haven't been following discussion on this topic for a year or...

For some time I've struggled with the problem of displaying simple captioned figures on webpages in a way that is robust and scalable. I tend to make "boring" (um, I mean "conservatively elegant") pages that are text-heavy and that resemble academic publications. Despite the origin of HTML in the world of scientific communication, the absence of a FIGURE element to serve as a counterpart to the TABLE element is surprising. This topic has...

I have a table "tblmaintabs" that stores data that is collected from various companies on a quarterly basis in March, June, September and December each year (these dates are stored in a Date/time field called txtmonthlabel formatted mmmm yyyy). I am trying to create a report that shows the figures for the same quarter last year and the figures for the year to date this year and last year. The value is shown on the report in the control...

Does anyone here have any experience with AWStats (http://awstats.sourceforge.net/) or other similar packages for site traffic reporting? I'm looking to provide statistical reporting on Web site traffic and I'm looking for recommendations. AWStats looks pretty good, but requires installing PERL on the server. Thoughts? Opinions? Perspective?

I need to be able to generate a PDF report which consists mostly of vector images (which I can generate as encapsulated Postscript, PDF, or SVG). What I need is a way to combine these figures into a single PDF document. Right now the reports consist entire of these figures, so I just write the figures out to temp files and then use os.system() to run ghostscript with appropriate options to combine them into a single PDF file. I'd...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
