User permissions problem with created folder.

Question:
I use an indexing script that generates thumbnails for pictures and
stores them, so the next time someone requests a directory listing,
the thumbnail is already there and needn't be re-created.
Now, the problem is, the script cant create the thumbnail folders
because the base folder is owned by a normal system user, while the
script-screated folders or images are owned by the httpd, www-data. Is
there a way to have folders/files be created under the correct system
user?
Thanks in advance.

No. You should make the directory world-writable, or group-writable and
give it the proper group.

Could you explain what exactly you mean? Say, the user who owns all
the base folders is called "someuser" and the webserver operates as
user "www-data".

Hi guys, We're using the ISAPI version of PHP with IIS5.0 On some websites for some reason any php file in the websites root is given the path winnt/system32 (getcwd() returns "C:\WINNT\system32"), while files in a folder are given the correct dir. To fix this I created a file that's included to all the files from php.ini

(PHP 4.3.4) THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS! I have a website where I offer members their own bit of webspace to use and am coding a very simple 'filemanager' that allows a user to upload, delete, and edit text files (members, of course, will not have normal sign-on FTP access to the site - I just limit them to their own folder space). I'm hitting a real problem with file and directory permissions, in that it seems I'm experiencing...

I give permissions for ASPNET on a top level subdirectory. A windows program copies a file into the subdirectory, however, my web service cannot access the file because it does not have permissions. Shouldn't the file automatically inherit permissions by being dropped into that top level subdirectory?

I need some advice re permissions etc. Here's the situation: at my workplace, I have a website which sits in a folder created by the IT manager, and given certain permissions (I'm not even yet sure how to determine what the permissions are). Whenever I'm at my workplace I just copy and paste files from my local machine to the web folder and it's on the web. Easy! But at home, I have dialup access and needed to upload files to the same folder....

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
