Lenny there's plenty of people who will sell you a 'simple CMS' along
with undervalued stock and real estate in Florida. Such a thing does
not exist. If you want to handle payment transactions then employ
people who know what they are doing or alternatively, there are plenty
of companies offering off-the-shelf *managed* solutions.

Hi,

x-cart.com is featureful PHP store. There's also oscommerce.com which
is open source.

For dedicated forum apps, try vBulletin or phpBB.

For a CMS, you might like to check out Joomla, XOOPS, or drupal.

I'm displaying product thumbnails with brief descriptions on web pages. Clicking on the product does a javascript popup with larger image and detailed description info passed to the javascript functions from the table data. Products can change frequently, and I want to make the maintenance of this info easier by non-techies (each product has an image name, image width (currently not using getimagesize), a short description, and a long...

I'm using "ID" and "Value" in the generic sense here... Let's say one page I had a <html:select> with a collection like this: <html:options collection="items" property="key" labelProperty="value"/> In this case "key" is what I mean by "ID", and "value" is what I mean by "Value" -- the "Value" is shown to the user, but the "ID" is what I plan to keep, to be saved to a database (as a reference in a table to a common table as a part of...

Hi all. Handling files is an extremely frequent task in programming, so most programming languages have an abstraction of the basic files offered by the underlying operating system. This is indeed also true for our language of choice, Python. Its file type allows some extraordinary convenient access like: for line in open("blah"): handle_line(line)

I am having a lot of fun using the pyGoogle module ( http://pygoogle.sourceforge.net/ ) that uses the Google API. It is about as easy to use as I can imagine, and it is a lot nicer than using my old HTMl screen scraping habits. My online CGI program Ask Merlin at www.awaretek.com/askmerlin.html is an example. Currently, the program takes any user's question and picks the best answer from amongst the possible answers given by the user....

In VB.NET I would like to not have to create property get/set procedures for every class variable I want to expose to Excel VBA projects in COM builds. Can anyone tell me if that is possible, or refer me to some documents that will make me understand why this apparent limitation of VB.NET COM builds is acceptable, i.e. why in "good" object code programs I should expect to never have to create large numbers of public class variables that...

Is there an *easy* way to make an object immutable in python? Or perhaps I should say "one obvious way to do it"? Oughtn't there to be one? I've found a thread on how to do this, which essentially says something like "redefine __setattr__, __delattr__, __hash__, __eq__, __setitem__, delitem__ ... and probably some other stuff too".

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
