Compiled C-language CGI-BIN Programming with MySql

Because I have some heavy number-crunching scientific applications, I'd like
to program using the C language, CGI-BIN, and with MySQL (using its
C-language interface).

Is there anything I should know? For example, when Apache runs a CGI-BIN,
is there anything special about the environment (memory limits, etc.)?

Is the paradigm I proposed workable?

Thanks, Dave.

P.S.--I'm a heavy PHP user, but for some applications it isn't fast enough.

Sounds fine, although it depends.

So you're not using PHP at all? In which case:

comp.lang.c
comp.databases. mysql
alt.apache.conf iguration
comp.infosystem s.www.authoring.cgi (although that seems fairly dead)

And cross-post. Don't multi-post.

Yes.

You could compile your PHP; that usually gives you quite
a boost in CPU-intensive applications:

This may be a dumb question, but are there any practical advantages of compiling a python application to *.pyo, or *.pyc? I haven't noticed any difference in the performance of text *.py or a bytecompiled file.

Hi all. I'm sorry for a noob question like this but I'll try to ask it anyway. One of the greatest problem that may discourage a new user to choose Python language is it's interpreted nature. Another important problem is that no interpreter is installed on Windows machine by default and this makes harder to distribute the software. Does it is planned that, in a far future, Python will implement a form of compilation? This would be...

Hi, Is the compilation of XSLT, using XPathNavigator.Compile, only beneficial when the returned XPathExpression is cached? Next question, how do I cache the returned XPathExpression object? Should I programmatically cache it or is it automatically cached when the Compile method is called? Thanks

I have a service which is used to call differenct versions of an application depending on the database version that is being used. The service has been compiled in framework 1.1 and it needs to call the current version of the application (also compiled in framework 1.1) and also historic versions (compiled in framework 1.0). The application compiled in framework 1.1 loads correctly,

I am a newbie ASP.NET programmer. While going through the MSDN ASP.NET tutorial, I came across the following sentence: All ASP.NET code is compiled rather than interpreted which allows early binding, strong typing & just-in-time (JIT) compiling to native code. What do "compiled rather than interpreted" & "early binding" mean? Also since ASP.NET code is compiled & not interpreted, what are the benefits of "compiled" code over "interpreted"...

Hello, I have a simple question I would like to ask to you guys... It boils down to a simple observation about all the C libraries existing out there: there must be a C source file that must be compiled first, I mean before all the others. That's why I poke my nose in a C library (GNU glibc for instance) to find out this mysterious file... This is indeed the library programmers (including me) often refer to.

Hello there, I just found that the compiled code won't hide the string variables so that I can see them by opening the execuable using Notepad. I have couple applications that have password hardcoded and I've been thinking that the string varialbes are hidden in compiled code. I knew that the VS.NET doesn't compile the source code into machine code. But I didn't know that it will expose string variables in the compiled code. Here is my...

I'm having problems passing a variable to a method which is executed and compiled using CodeDom. The situation is I have a List<CellData> with cells, each containing a formula (like Excel). I am trying to pass this list to an executable section of code which is compiled during run-time. The formulas are calculated in CodeDom and the result is returned on the same List<CellData> object I passed. The user-defined class which holds the cell data...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
