I use win 2000, php 4.4.2, phpmyadmin 2.8.0.3, iis 5.0, and mysql 5.0.
When I try to run http://localhost/phpmyadmin/index.php I get the error
messages:
---
The mbstring PHP extension was not found and you seem to be using a
multibyte charset. Without the mbstring extension phpMyAdmin is unable
to split strings correctly and it may result in unexpected results.
PHP Warning: Unknown(): Unable to load dynamic library
'c:\php\ext\php _mbstring.dll' - The specified module could not be
found. in Unknown on line 0

The file c:\php\ext\php_ mbstring.dll exists. php ini has extension_dir
= "c:\php\ext \" and extension=php_m bstring.dll.
What am I doing wrong?

Hi Jan,
Should work...
Check for a few possible mistakes, like:
1) Are you edditing the right php.ini?
Call phpinfo() to see what php thinks the right php.ini is.
(Sounds stupid, but you wouldn't be the first or the last who
2) call phpinfo(), and check if PHP agrees that you loaded the module.
It SHOULD be named somewhere.
3) Is the ddl readable for the IUSR_<machinena me> ?
If that doesn't help, come back here.
Good luck.
Regards,
Erwin
Hi Erwin,
Thanks for your reply!
I was editing the right php.ini. I believe the problem was that I used
php_mbstring.dl l from php 5 and not 4.4.2.
I also copied libmysql.dll to c:\winnt\ from php-4.4.2-Win32.zip.
Now it works!

Hi,
I need to search a particular directory for all the files that do not have
any extension and have a specific naming convension. The first 3 characters
of the file name are alpha and the rest are numeric. For example, valid files
are 'abc1234', 'xyz9876' etc. Is there a search pattern I can use with the
Directory.getFiles( ) method. Thanks in Advance

Hi!
Some questions regarding the mysqli-extension (php5)
1) Prepared statements: If I understand things right, prepared statements
will give better performance if you make several similar querys. (where you
only change the parameters) But what if you do only ONE query; will it then
be usefull to use prepared statements? Can it actuelly give better
performance NOT to use prepared statements in that case?
2) Are there any DISadvantages...

Hi,
I downloaded and installed php 5.1.6 from www.sunfreeware.com but it
lacks both the php_mbstring.so extension and php_gd2.so extension.
How can I enable those extensions? Where do I download them?
Or do I have to download php source code and recompile all php?
TIA,
Gabriel

Hi,
I am trying to get a small group of volunteers together to create
Windows binaries for any Python extension developer that needs them,
much like the package/extension builders who volunteer their time to
create Linux RPMs.
The main thing I need are people willing to test the binaries to make
sure the extension is stable. This would require installing the binary
and probably downloading the source too to get the developer's test

I am making a web application that needs to work in both an English/Japanese environment. This web application is intended to manage a company website (news releases, add new companies), and also contains an admin section available to administrators only. During my coding process I did not realize the existence of the mbstring functions since I am still fairly new to PHP. I am attempting to change the mbstring settings in the php.ini file...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
