imap/c-client integration with php5.1.1

I am having a horrific time integrating uw-imap's c-client for imap
support in php. The problem is a whole bunch of "Text relocation remains
referenced against symbol" errors during
linking. Any help appreciated!
The ordeal is a follows

I am using Solaris 10 with php5.1.1.
GCC:
Configured with: ../configure --with-as=/usr/ccs/bin/as
--with-ld=/usr/ccs/bin/ld --disable-nls
Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.3.2

my phpconf is:
export CFLAGS="-O3 -pthreads"
../configure --with-zlib-dir=/usr/lib/ \
--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \
--with-pgsql \
--enable-sockets \
--with-xmlrpc \
--with-pdo-pgsql \
--with-gd \
--with-ttf \
--with-freetype-dir \
--with-jpeg-dir \
--enable-wddx \
--enable-gettect \
--enable-dbx \
--with-dom \
--with-iconv \
--enable-mbstring=all \
--enable-mbregex \
--with-gettext \
--with-oci8 \
--without-pdo-sqlite \
--with-curl \
--with-imap=/usr/local/imap-2004g \
--enable-libgcc

Problem:

Text relocation remains referenced
against symbol offset in file

Remembering back you also have to ln -s c-client.a libc-client.a

The last time I built I also had problems linking, the Solaris linker
did not like it at all, so, had to temporarily rename the Solaris ld's
and rename gnu ld (gld) to ld and all was well (then renaming everything
back !). The --with-gnu-ld switch DOES NOT work properly ! ./configure
goes fine but then jumps back to the Solaris linker during make.

The of course I downloaded Studio 11 and recompiled and everything
compiled cleanly with no problems at all and is a *LOT* quicker. Try it
and see the difference

HTH again

I'm trying to get a PHP-based webmail setup going, but I'm running into a problem with IMAP authentication. Specifically, the PHP IMAP extension is trying to log in using CRAM-MD5 authentication, which my IMAP server doesn't support. Is there a way to make PHP IMAP use just plain login authentication? Thanks, Ian (ian@onepost.net)

Hi, I was just wondering if there is a way to connect to the secure imap server (port 993) without having --with-imap-ssl option turned on. I have --with-imap and --with-openssl and recompiling php is not an option (I'm not the server owner). Any suggestions/links are appreciated. Thanks, Marko

I have a computer I've set up as a testing server at home and I'm having a problem trying to locate the pre-compiled IMAP libraries for PHP on Windows. According to the book "PHP & MySQL Web Development by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson", I can get the Windows build of the imap libraries from http://www.php4win.de. But in going to the website, the title bar says "php4win suspended" with an empty page. The creators of IMAP,...

Hello there, I'm trying to create a connection with an IMAP server which is secured through SSL. I can get the connection just fine, and I get a first respone from the server. But then I send out my login string, and it does not seem to arrive at the server, because I don't get an answer returned! After some time, I receive a message from the server saying that I've been idle for too long, and then the connection gets closed.. But why...

I've been trying to implement this script, it polls an IMAP inbox for unread messages and displays the sender and subject in a scrollable window using Tkinter. However, when I try to change the search parameters on line 55 from 'unread' (UNSEEN) to 'read' (SEEN), the tkinter window doesn't even pop up anymore. Any idea how to change the parameters of this program and yet still keep it functional?

Hi, Is it possible to open concurrent connections using Net::IMAP::Simple library ? My IMAP server allows 4 connections per ip, so I am having following problems while using Net::IMAP::Simple and Net::IMAP::Simple::SSL libraries: 1) The method new returns a valid connection even on 5th try, though the login fails as it looks like IMAP->login somehow knows that 5th object is not valid..Is it possible ? 2) Somtime, the script fails at the...

I'm trying to get a list of messages from GMAIL using it's new IMAP access. So far I've tried running this command but it just hangs. Any ideas? I figured that's the first line to run from this example: http://docs.python.org/lib/imap4-example.html Here are the configuration settings GMAIL says to use:

I want to be able to allow people to check their email from my PHP online application. Given only the users 1) email address, 2) username (if applicable) and 3) password - how can I auto detect a remote IMAP/POP3 server so that I can connect and fetch mail for the user. (Ultimately, I don't want users to have to know what the IMAP/POP3 server name / port is .... I would like to auto-detect all of that). At first I thought I could use...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
