Setting value of session variables

Hi,

I used to have code like this:

$itemCode["$basketCou nt"] = $id ;

where itemCode and basketCount were both session variables.

Now it seems i have to use _SESSION if register globals are turned off.
So how should
this code look?

This doesnt compile:

$_SESSION['itemCode']["$_SESSION['basketCount']"]=$id;

:)

Thanks!
Dan

sorry for the double post earlier - Deja being rubbish!
However seems my syntax was wrong and i was very tired last night.
Removing the double quotes from the code in my initial post works!

Thanks!

Hi,

first you need on your site a session_start() as first code piece. Your
example is almost correct. Try this instead:

$itemCode["basketcoun t"]=$id;

$_SESSION['itemCode']=$itemCode;

If basketcount is a variable, you can write it like this:

$itemCode[$basketcount]=$id;

Hope this helps

mfg

Needless to say I'm new to .Net. I'm trying to set Session variables from within a method within a class. (Name "Session" is not declared) is the message I get while typing in the code. I don't get this while entering code within an .aspx.vb file. Obviously I need to create and instance of some System.Web... object but I don't know what it is. Any ideas? Also by setting session variables from within the class and not sending back...

Hi, I have an asp.net webapp that uses some javascript in a hidden frame on the browser to poll the server every 30 seconds, using an http post. I also want my sessions to timeout in the normal fashion. The way I'm trying to get around this is by manually setting the timeout property for the session. I cache the starting session timeout value and inspect each url I get.

Hello, I have created a custom dropdownlist that is used multiple times within a single page. I'm having a problem with the session being reset after setting a cookie. This is not supposed to happen. If I comment out the Add line below the site works normally, the session persists. Help. vs2003/.net 1.1 HttpCookie httpCookie = new HttpCookie("myCookieName"); httpCookie.Value = (string)Session; // BUG: adding the cookie kills the session.

I have a page where the user can upload a video file. As you can guess, this may take a while. Is there a way I can change the session timeout for just this one page? I would also want to change the forms authentication to be a large value for that page also. TIA - Jeff.

Hi, I'm using PHP 4.4.4 on Apache 2 on Fedora Core 5. PHP was installed using Apache's apxs and the php library was installed to /usr/local/php. However, when I set my "error_reporting" setting to be "E_ALL", notices are still not getting reported. The perms on my file are 664, with owner root and group root. The php.ini file is located at /usr/local/lib/php/php.ini. Any ideas why the setting does not seem to be having an effect? ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
