php.ini (in /etc/ somewhere). Set error_reporting and display_errors
as you see fit. I prefer log_errors = Off.

Hi!

either you can change php's error handling in the php.ini, or you just add
the following line at the beginning of a script (useful if you only want to
check one page):

ERROR_REPORTING (E_ALL);

I have a little gripe with my ASP pages, for some reason I am not getting error messages I would expect and don't know if it's an ASP thing, browser thing or IIS problem. I use option explicit to ensure I define every variable. When I have forgotten to define one the error page just dislays the 500.100 error screen. I have ensured that in my IE 6 that 'show friendly http error messages' is unchecked but have the problem still.

I'm running asp on MS Server 2000. Running Internet Explorer I used to get a proper message with page and line number when there was a bug in my asp code. Suddenly I'm not getting these any more, I just get the standard HTTP 500 - Internal server error Internet Explorer page which is completely useless. In Tools/Internet Options/Advanced neither "Disable Script Debugging" or "Disable a notification about every script error" is checked,...

I have started with C++ a few months ago. The language itself is nice, but what I really don't like are the error messages that I get from g++. g++ error messages are often just not helpful. Sometimes I just take the line number of the error and try to figure out myself what might be wrong. Or I just remember this error message and know already: if g++ says error X it really means error Y.

Hello, I am using forms with command buttons to close form or run action queries. The error messages such as "Null value in required field" or "duplicate value in primary key" are suppressed. The error messages appear when runnign the apend query manually or when closing the form using X, but not when using command buttons. Does anyone know how can the messages be displayed when using command

Sometime ago on the comp.lang.c, I saw a teacher's post asking why C compilers produce so many error messages as soon as a closing bracket is missing. The response was simply because the compiler can't tell where a bracket is missing.... a few weeks have past, I requested a feature for the delphi ide/editor "automatic identation of code in begin/end statements etc" and today when I woke up I suddenly released a very simple solution for this...

Hi, I have written a webbrowser application in VB .net Framework 1.1. I would like to suppress javascript error messages. However, the silent property of the webbrowser control suppresses the Javascript messages, but it also blocks any other dialog box, such as Login dialog, i can't use the silent property. I used http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;279535 article to suppress the error messages. It works fine until a...

Before anything else, I am not a very technical expert when it comes to VBA coding. I learned most of what I know by the excellent Access/VBA forum from bytes.com (formerly thescripts.com). Ergo, I will be writing this article intended for those who are in the same level, or maybe lower, of my technical knowledge. I would be using layman's words, or maybe, my own words as how I understand them, hoping, you will understand it the same way that...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
