SQL 2000
I thought I would throw this out there for some feedback from others.
I'd like to know if you feel using MS auto-increment field is a good
solution these days or should one grow their own ?
Thanks,
Me.

An ASP page has a variable named iCounter whose initial value is 0.
This ASP page has a drop-down list. When an option is selected from the
drop-down list, I want the value of the iCounter variable to increment
by 1. For e.g. when an option is first selcted, iCounter should be
equal to 1. When an option is selected again, iCounter should be equal
to 2 so on & so forth. How do I do this?
Thanks,
Arpan

I heard people saying prefix increment is faster than postfix
incerement, but I don't know what's the difference. They both are
i = i+1.
i++
++i
Please advise. thanks!!

The only adder I was able to come up with for incrementing
by one, uses a for loop.
I was trying to do this without using a for loop
while emulating i++(it's for obfuscated code)
Anyone know of a way to increment by one continuously,
while updating the same value stored in an object,
without the need of such a loop? basically a one-liner.

Hello,
I have to design a table wich will store some action reports. Each
report have an ID like this 1/2004, 2/2004, ... and each years, they
restart to 1 (1/2004, 1/2005, 1/2006,...).
So, I was thinking to split that in two fields : one with the increment
and one with the year. But I don't know how can I manage the sequences
since I have to restart to 0 each year...

Hi,
I have had some good fortune on this site so I am back and I must iterate I am a beginer.
I am having some problems getting to grips with the right technique to manage variables and adding a unique order number to a customer order form.
I have 4 stages to my order form.
Stage 1 involves the user selecting a link based on what they want. The link then sets 2 variables. $type and $fault based on the link they have chosen.

I have a list of objects, the object has a String and an Int in it. I need to check to see if an item is in the list, if so increment the integer and save it back to the list.
I believe I've done everything OK up to the point of checking to see if an object is in the list by overloading the equals() and hashCode() functions.
I don't have any errors and compiles except my list contains two entries of the same name (String) instead of...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
