Hello, I tried to read in some large ascii files (200MB-2GB) in Python using scipy.io.read_array, but it did not work as I expected. The whole idea was to find a fast Python routine to read in arbitrary ascii files, to replace Yorick (which I use right now and which is really fast, but not as general as Python). The problem with scipy.io.read_array was, that it is really slow, returns errors when trying to process large files and it...

I feel stupid for asking this but I can't figure this out. I've got some text files I want my website to read. The text files are located in a subdirectory of my application. Physically, the files are located on drive C: in directory starting with InetPub/myapplication/directrory/files . Thing is,when the website is running, the application path is c:\windows\system32. I can manipulate the path to get this to work for now. Thing is,...

I have some UTF-8 text files written in Chinese to be read. Now the only method that I know to read text from it is to use fopen() function. Thus, I must read the contents byte by byte, change the UTF-8 characters to Unicode, store the characters into wchar_t variables. But I think this method is too complex and isn't elegant at all. Are there any ways to read the UTF-8 text files as simple and convenient as the way that we read ANSI...

After that I want to read the source from the text file and save it back to the disk with its original form. The problem is tha the binary source that I extract from the text file seems to be diferent from the source I saved. Here is my code: 1) handle=file('image.gif','rb')

Hi, Is it possible to read a file in reverse and only get the last 100 bytes in the file without reading the whole file from the begining? I have to get info from files that are in the last 100 bytes of the file and some of these files are 600Mb -1 GB in size. I am getting "outofMemory.." exceptions on the largest files and the other files take "forever" to get the last 100 bytes. This is the code I have currently that works with...

I'm looking for something that can read .MDB files, the format Microsoft Access uses, from Python. I need to do this on Linux, without using Microsoft tools. I just need to read the files once, so I can load the tables into another database. Speed isn't an issue, and I don't need to access the file in database fashion. The files are too big to read into RAM all at once, though. I tried "MDBtools", but the only (last) release was a...

I posted this on the forum, but nobody seems to know the solution: http://python-forum.org/py/viewtopic.php?t=5230 I have a zip file that is several GB in size, and one of the files inside of it is several GB in size. When it comes time to read the 5+GB file from inside the zip file, it fails with the following error: File "...\zipfile.py", line 491, in read bytes = self.fp.read(zinfo.compress_size) OverflowError: long it too large to...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
