Objective survey of PHP vs ASP.NET vs JSP?

Anyone know of objective a survey of the development time and run-time
considerations of PHP vs. ASP.NET vs JSP? Most arguments for one
environment appear to be more on the personal level.

Thanks

P.S.

I guess I would like to see a test app given to three programmers with
1-2 years in their specific environment and see the time taken to
create the app, the quality of code, and a stress test of code.

This will hardly be objective, because the type of application makes it more
or less suitable to implement in a specific language.

What you really need to do is to make lists of the strong and weak points
for each language as a reference for future developments, so you can select
the appropriate language or mix of languages.

Sounds like you want someone to implement *your* test criteria - which would
be far from objective, now would it?

The only objective comparison I know of is
http://shootout.alioth.debian.org/ although it only acheives objectivity by
a lack of applicability - the test are implementations of well defined
algorithms with an emphasis on data manipulation. None of the three
languages you list are intended to address this.

Either you set out your criteria for measurement and test them for yourself
or you try to weigh up subjective analysis form whatever sources you can
find.

(and, yes, I did the work myself and decided that PHP was the best solution
for me - but it doesn't automatically follow that it's the best solution
for you)

Hi everyone, Sorry to fill up this newsgroup with this request, but for coursework at Erasmus University (the Netherlands) I need to conduct a survey regarding the use of certain open source projects and I'm therefore looking for some volunteers to participate in this survey. The survey is located at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=42670815560 or alternatively at http://tinyurl.com/3stvu. I'm aware of the (self) selection bias...

I've written several survey systems in which the majority of the questions have the same or similar responses (Yes/No, True/False, scale of 1 - 5, etc). But this latest survey system I'm working on has 8-10 sections, with a variety of question attributes and answer scales. Some items have just a description and require a Yes/No answer, others have a description and an active status and require a Yes/No and price answer, some require a...

Dear Madam/Sir, You are invited to participate in an international research study. This research project is headed and led by Cambridge student Nico Baumgarten. What is it all about? It is a well-known fact that there exist many differences between cultures. However, how these differences effect motivation if there are effects at all is not yet clear. This survey is set out to change this. With your help, it will be possible to...

Hi everyone, a few weeks ago I asked you to assist me with a paper I am writing on newsgroup behavior. I want to thank all of you who answered my survey, your input helped me a lot. Although I know that not everyone was happy with my off-topic posting, I would also like to use this posting to ask anyone who did not yet see my survey to consider answering it. The more answers I get the easier my work will be.

Hi everyone, Constructed a fairly big table with 20 rows, most of which are TINYINTs based on user selection for a dropdown box. This is the form: http://www.threechords.org/spb/survey/ Each field obviously corresponds to a row in the table, and the majority are integers indicating the user's selection.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
