mysql strange behaviour

I've no access to mysql NG, so I ask here.

I've a strange behaviour with mysql.

when I do a select from a simple table, then I get a result for a certain
field
when I then put a "union" and create a query that return no result, I get an
other result for that field. All other fields seems ok.

the field's type are different (one is a mediumint(8) and the other is a
char(13)) it is a problem ?

Then subscribe to the MySQL mailing list it's free and details can be found
at the MySQL site.

I concur with the Obvious. Also when asking questions like that
anywhere, putting "union" instead of your actual code hampers anyone
from helping. Sometimes when you type out your query to post you see
the error of your ways as well. At least, I do!

That's because there isn't one yet. But see:
http://www.uvv.org/cgi-bin/getmsg/3750 ... for how to vote if you want one.

In the meantime, there's MySQL mailing lists you can use.

This is all very vague. You'll need to post a runnable example.

Using Union and Order By gives strange behaviour in the following test-case: drop table if exists gallery; drop table if exists gallery_categ; # create test tables create table gallery (d_image_small char(100), d_image_big char(100)); create table gallery_categ (d_image char(100)); # insert test data

I've been stumbling over this, what I consider strange, behaviour. I installed mySQL on a Win2k machine and tried to change the root password, which didn't seem to work. I changed it this way: c:>mysql mysql> use mysql mysql> update user set password=PASSWORD('test') where user='root'; mysql> exit

i have a strange problem : MySQL 4.0.21 innodb and php 4.3.9-1 all tables are in innodb type. For a simple select statement, sometimes i get result and sometimes nothing (i.e mysql_num_rows()>0 or mysql_num_rows()==0). It's a random behaviour. If my table is MyISAM type no problem. If someone have an idea ?

Hi, Explaining this problem is quite tricky, but please bear with me. Ive got an application which uses MySQL (InnoDB) for two things: 1. Store and retrieve application data (including viewing the application log) 2. Store the application log produced by the python logging module The connection and cursor for the two tasks are completely separate, and they

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
